Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrienne Carter.
Adrienne, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
When I was young, I used to always want to make t-shirts. I didn’t have no style or no idea how it was going to happen. In 2017, I finally put my mind to it and launched my website for my brand and called it Tomboiiz Apparel. I sold t-shirts, sweatsuits, and hoodies. I was using 3rd party websites to assist in creating ideas and making the merch for me as well as a friend in mall. I started with zero dollars and was pinching pennies making sales as the websites I was using took most of the money. One day my mom said listen let’s buy your own equipment! My bestfrann and I put it all together and we definitely destroyed so many shirts, she was burning her hands lol but after about 2 weeks we finally figured out how to use it! From that day forth I was then making shirts, going to events setting up vendor tables, and began to see a profit. I started receiving emails from people asking do I do custom shirts and now I actually do more custom work then pushing a brand. I create designs and bring people’s designs to life and put it on shirts. I know custom almost anything from shirts, to bags, to hats, sweatsuits, etc.. It has been a great journey and a trying one! As I’ve had some sleepless nights and even some days I’ve cried trying to beat deadlines with big orders. It’s now 2022 and Tomboiiz Apparel is still bro going ideas of others to life as well as here and there I will launch a few shirts from my brand. A guy once told me one day I’d have to choose between my brand or my custom work and it’s the custom work that helps me flourish.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has not been smooth at all. It’s only me so at times, I take on so many orders and overwhelm myself self to make it all happen! There are times I used to cry trying to figure out how I would complete orders but now it’s all about prioritizing and setting limits and goals to make magic as I call it lol
As you know, we’re big fans of Tomboiiz Apparel. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I specialize in custom merchandise for any occasion. Anything from shirts, bags, sweatsuits, hats, salon capes, swimsuits. I can just about do it all. In my eyes, what I think sets me apart from others is because I don’t just push a brand I help people create ideas and help bringing them to life. I’m big on helping others and seeing the smiles once they receive the items.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love how at times everyone can come together and show love to each other. The least is the violence!
