Meet Rudy, Victor, and Nina de Leon Dinglas of Bountiful Sweetness Bakehouse

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rudy, Victor, and Nina de Leon Dinglas.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Our friends and family have always enjoyed the delicious treats we made – rooted in our rich Filipino heritage with a touch of flair from our travels across the world. We established Bountiful Sweetness Bakehouse to begin sharing these with the rest of Baltimore and beyond!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a small-scale, cottage industry operation and with our own full-time careers, sometimes we have to decline requests for orders. On the other hand, we are fortunate to be able to maintain a great balance between both.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in Filipino and Filipino-inspired baked goods. We are especially well-known for our Flan Cakes, particularly for our ube flan cake. A flan cake is a combination of a sponge cake topped with a decadent layer of Filipino flan. Ube is a purple sweet potato that is a typical flavor for many Filipino desserts. Our flan cakes also come in original – which has a light citrus and vanilla cake base, and our chocolate flan cake. We also kutsinta – which is a Filipino Steamed Rice cake. We have recently expanded our offerings to include pan de sal – a ubiquitous Filipino bread roll that is perfect for breakfast or as an anytime snack. In every new business venture, you open yourself and your products to people’s opinions. And part of the risk is receiving negative criticisms along with positive ones. However, we always welcome feedback as a way to improve and expand our business and products.
