Exploring Life & Business with Lisa Smith of Sweet Smith’s

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Smith.

Hi Lisa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It all started in my mother’s kitchen as a little kid. I’d be her #1 helper when it came to family dinners, parties and cookouts. My job was to prepare all the desserts such as pies, banana puddings, cakes, and even homemade candies such as English toffee! Ever since then, my passion for baking and deserts has grown as much as I’ve grown up. In my late teens/early twenties, my sweet hobby started to gain popularity at colleges and small vendor events; I’d bake a lot for friends and family to taste test & to push my name and small business out there.

Over time with a lot of new recipes, techniques, fails, lessons, and patience, I was able to finally make Sweet Smith’s into Sweet Smith’s LLC due to my success. It’s been such an amazing journey to see where I started; and what’s more exciting is that I still have many more accomplishments to achieve with Sweet Smith’s LLC!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Reality sure snaps in when it comes to entrepreneurs! Starting as a cottage bakery, you don’t have access to a lot of multiple kitchen equipment used to prepare multiple orders at once, as well as only you being the employee. So, there are times and days where things can get a bit overwhelming!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Sweet Smith’s LLC, a Cottage bakery, specializes in many desserts such as Macarons, Cupcakes, Cakes, and Pastries. I’m most proud of turning a daydream into a growing reality; and I say growing because there’s so much more I’m capable of doing and becoming along with my brand.

What makes you happy?
Though life has it’s challenges; I’m forever grateful to be here, to breathe, and to experience. The good people I’ve been blessed enough to be surrounded by make me happy. My passion has always made me happy as well as bringing me a peace of mind.

I’m so proud, very proud of my daughter. I’m in tears each time she succeeds further in her goals. I’m just amazed that she remembers all the recipes and skills she has learned in my kitchen. To think, our home was where it all started.
