Today we’d like to introduce you to LAUREN SIMONE.
Hi LAUREN, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Thank you for selecting me for an interview. Let’s have a little story time: My decision to join the world of Public Relations started in the summer of 2012 at Virginia State University. Initially, I planned on obtaining a degree in Education but was secretly interested in the Mass Media Field of Work. I was standing in a long line of students with my mother as we planned my classes during Freshman Orientation.
As I reviewed the curriculum for Education, I saw that math and science were a huge part of the coursework, and I thought, “OH HECK NO.” I quickly made the best decision that sparked my passion and career in Public Relations by changing my degree to Mass Communications with a focus on Public Relations.
Now five years later, I own a company that provides Branding and Website Design Services to new business owners, brands, and more. Additionally, I recently publicized our Career and Professional Development Resources to enable those looking for a career change, undergraduate transition, and interview coaching.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Within the Public Relations and Communications career field, I have learned the ability to adapt to methodological changes at a fast pace. As a digital branding and website design focus company communicator, I must stay on top of current best practices, technology, and industry standards. Agile is a must if you plan on being the “Olivia Pope” for a client’s business.
I constantly research new resources to provide my clients with the most up-to-date processes and tools. The road has been smooth because Public Relations is something I am passionate about. I thoroughly enjoy the ability to tap into creative spaces and leverage my skillset outside of my full-time job.
LSC PR may be my part-time endeavor; however, I work in a full-time Talent Acquisition role. In this role, I assist in shaping the future of our agency’s workforce. At my job, I encourage our next generation of leaders to give themselves grace, try something new, and be open to various personal and professional growth opportunities. I love recruiting and connecting with potential candidates worldwide. Since graduating in 2016, this has been my most fulfilling professional role.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about L. Simone Company, Public Relations (LSC PR)?
Since 2017, LSC PR has successfully helped many businesses launch their brands and is still growing our portfolio today. LSC PR makes the designing and implementation process easy for our clients. We provide inclusive packages for new or expanding businesses in a simple four-step process. LSC PR provides services: Website Design, Graphic Design, Print Services, Branding Tool Kits, Resume Building & Interviewing Coaching.
Additionally, since 2018, our clientele has solely been based on word of mouth. That means we are doing something right, and our clients value their client experience, support, and services we provide.
LSC PR has values based on three Pillars of success. We call them the 3Cs, Communication, Collaboration, and Compassion. Communication is the essential pillar that enables our high level of collaboration. Through collaboration, LSC PR fosters compassion for your business needs and is an integral part of your brand’s fabric. As an agency, we are “branded for life,” and we know that this form of business enables a lifelong journey of success for our clients and LSC PR.
What matters most to you? Why?
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion matter to me as an Underrepresented Black Woman in Entrepreneurship. Representation matters to me. That means that I take my business and clients seriously—especially Black women seeking entrepreneurship. I thrive when I see another woman going for the gold and including LSC PR (me) in on that endeavor. I appreciate that as a Black woman, I can cultivate a connection that enables others to succeed. Equity for black women isn’t always a consistent privilege. We see today’s culture where ideas, brands, and intellectual property are stolen from black women repeatedly. This creates a disparaging loss for Black women looking to launch a brand or business. LSC PR is a safe space for ALL potential clients to bring ideas to the table for their business. We perform consistently with integrity and ethical standards to protect our clientele’s brand.
Lastly, I believe that when God blesses you with a gift, it matters how you bless others when using that gift, and to have abundance in life, obedience is necessary. Essentially, obedience means staying true to your moral code, values, and faith. This is the advice I give to others when they ask me, “How do I do it all?” and “How do I achieve success?”
