Exploring Life & Business with Jill Atcheson of LuvYourLife Naturally

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jill Atcheson.

Hi Jill, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I’m living proof of the possibilities that exist when Western medicine works alongside natural healing modalities. Today I am a vibrant woman, a wife, and a mother, who prioritizes family over everything. I am an entrepreneur, a healthy living coach, and a spiritual influencer. But it didn’t start out this way…

Two years ago, I was at the peak of my professional career – a marketing executive for a global tech giant, traveling the world and living my life in a suitcase and little sleep or time for myself. I was juggling many roles including being a working mom to a very young daughter, a loving wife, a thoughtful friend, and an engaged daughter – while getting caught up in the stigma of being ‘perfect’ – both physically and mentally.

All of that came to a crashing halt when I developed a cough that just wouldn’t go away. After many tests and a scary stint in the hospital, I was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer. At the age of 37, I was devastated to learn that my future was grim and the stats were not in my favor. I was launched into a sea of scans, chemotherapy, radiation, more scans, more radiation, and so on.

Immediately I found myself diving into integrative and alternative care options. I know healing would be led by my medical team but that I also played a critical role in my survival. I received my Certification in Plant-Based Nutrition, experienced countless healing modalities including acupuncture, energy healing, and supplements, and ultimately found my way through endless spiritual and intuitive sessions.

Along the way, I discovered that my story was different. I knew I was here to help others achieve what they once thought was impossible too. I am here to teach, to inspire, to love, to help people realize their ultimate potential.

You can manifest the future of your dreams and I am living proof.

Today, I help others through my website – luvyourlifenaturally.com. I’ve dedicated these last few years to healthy living habits and my website helps share health hacks, recipes and resources focused on longevity. Anyone can read along, join in and try a few because we all want to live a little longer & healthier, right? I’m also in the process of writing a book with my spiritual advisor, in order to showcase this miraculous journey, we rode through together. I’m always available to friends and strangers who ask if I can help them too – whether a phone call to help someone through a tough time or a gentle text to remind that they are loved and have help nearby.

I have an entire new outlook on life. My corporate job is no more but there’s no looking back. Now I get to focus all of my intention where it matters – and let my heart lead the way!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to self-discovery was not a smooth one. As you can imagine, facing a Stage IV cancer diagnosis brings with it a stigma of defeatedness. I questioned everything upfront but realized once I succumbed to letting go of trying to predict or control my own out outcome, that I was letting the possible actually be possible.

Cancer treatments are no fun. But I don’t think people really realize it unless you go through it. Chemo and radiation are beyond demanding – not only time-consuming and nerve-wracking, but each comes with a slew of side effects that just challenge an inner strength you never knew possible. There was pain, fatigue, lots of tears, sleepless nights, and hair falling out as the icing on top. There was rage, sorrow, deep depression, regrets, and hope. As my body ached and cried out for me to stop, my mind and spirit reminded me to keep going.

I could easily see how someone could succumb to the demanding physical, mental and spiritual endurance it takes to journey through this process. My motivation waivered, my confidence weakened at times, but I just kept focusing on the outcome I could see so clearly – a long, healthy, and happy life. My blog kept me motivated, as I shared tips and resources along the way. And my inner intuition kept reminding me that I’m here to live, love, and help others. That never changed! So, I pressed on and kept pressing on, even at my weakest and worst moments.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I started LuvYourLifeNaturally.com to share health hacks, recipes, and healthy living resources to nourish your entire mind, body, & soul. I am a Certified Plant-Based Nutritionist and Stage IV cancer survivor living my best life and helping others do the same.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, my life was well-balanced. I grew up in Maryland in the Baltimore suburbs and was taught to value family, education and being a kind person. I was shy, and awkward about the way that I looked, as many young kids are, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying dance classes, time with friends, and our collection of pets. I went to university, started excelling in my post-graduate career, and had everything I needed to be successful.

Yet no matter what, this lingering thought of physical perfection dominated my life. I didn’t like the way that I looked. I never got attention from the boys like my friends. I was the lone wolf without a valentine each year. This obsession with the physical “shell” of my body was taking over every thought, and yet I never talked to anyone about it. Through my teens, 20s, and even my 30s, I had failed relationships and friendships thanks to this obsession. I even went a whole summer without wearing shorts!

My health diagnosis changed my outlook on everything. And I mean everything. My journey towards physical perfection halted quickly when I realized that I’m more than the skin that surrounds my body and soul. Losing my hair was the ultimate test of literally not caring. I know now that others seeing me for that kind, loving, soul they saw as a kid. Not for the hair on my head or my toned body. What a relief and a lesson that I wished I had known all along. Now my focus is on longevity and helping others also see their true potential. It exists far beyond a physical presence!
