Exploring Life & Business with Janet Price of Bearded Builders

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janet Price.

Hi Janet, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I started working for Bearded Builders in 2015. After 10 years in business, Dave (President and CEO) was ready to hire some office staff and asked me to come aboard. He was particularly intersted in hiring someone who could help expand his marketing efforts and to keep him organized in the office.
At that time, I was strictly a Stay-at-Home Mom with my youngest just entering preschool so it was the perfect opportunity to jump back into a part-time work environment. I have strong administrative skills and I love being creative so this position seemed like a good fit.

As the company continued to grow, I started to take on more roles such as HR and Communications. My current responsibilities include Marketing, Communications, Human Resources, etc. (Ha) I love that I get to “wear many hats” because it keeps my days interesting and I get to be involved in some of the most important parts of the company.

Somehow, I have been able to continue as a part-time employee and I feel very fortunate to have the flexibility to work for a great company and still be able to voluteer and be involved in my childrens schooling (especially this year!).

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say that yes, it has mostly been a smooth road. As the company began to grow, there were some minor learning curves but I have always been good at seeing a need and figuring out a way to fill it or fix it.

Most of what I do now has been self-taught (thanks Youtube! ha) – and I have had been privileged of knowing many wonderful professional mentors who are always willing to help me when I need it.

Some of the few struggles have been in the Marketing department. Social Media is ever changing so trying to stay on top of trends, algorithms, ways to improve client engagement and always having to come up with new and creative content… this can be challenging.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Bearded Builders is a family owned, award winning design/build remodeling company in Baltimore. We specialize in kitchen, bathroom and basement remodeling. Our mission is not only for our clients to be satisfied with our services today, but 50 years from now. We build things the way they used to build things. We treat customers the way they used to be treated.

We conduct business the way it should be conducted. Call it old-fashioned, because that is what it is and how it should be. We don’t skimp on the second coat, we don’t buy cheap material and we certainly don’t cut corners. When it’s built right, it’s built to last.

If you have ever visited any of our Social Media Accounts or have seen us at an event, you know that we like to have fun and don’t take ourselves too seriously, In fact- our “down to earth” personalities, silly videos and fun branding is what connects us to many of our clients.

However, though we like to have a lot of fun, we are also serious about our work and take pride in the reputation that Bearded Builders has built in the community; honest, reliable and quality.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Canva & Adobe Spark are great apps that I use all of the time for our marketing work.

“Profit First for Contractors” by Shawn Van Dyke is a great resource for Contractors looking to improve the business side of their business.

On a personal note, I love hiking and being out in nature but I am seriously allergic to Poison Ivy. My “Must Have” app is Picture This, it is a plant species identifier and it has truly been a lifesaver! =P
