Exploring Life & Business with Erica Quarles of E’s to Bee’s Day Care & E’s to Bee’s Cleaning Business

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Quarles.

Hi Erica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Thirteen years ago, I was a single mom of two boys. I left an ugly relationship, worked seven days a week trying to provide for my children and myself. We lived in a very tiny two bedroom townhouse, but it was cozy for us. Struggling daily to keep the utilities on and the court order for late rent off of our door. I worked for a Heating & Air conditioning company for ten years. After working at this company, I met and fell in love with my husband of six years currently. When my boyfriend and I met at the time, we started out as really good friends. We had a chemistry out of this world. I struggled, he was there to catch my tears. My youngest son was molested by stepfather and I had to find Daycare for him immediately. I stayed home and trained my son to use the bathroom for approximately one week.

Nevertheless, we enrolled him into a Cristian Preschool that had before and aftercare. I struggled to make the weekly payments each and every week. Finally, my life began to turn around for the better and for what I thought was the worse. My position with the Heating & Air conditioning company started out as a Customer Service Rep. The ladies admired and respected me and looked forward to seeing me daily. If I were happy, they were happy! If I were sad, they were sad. With this in mind, my boss would say Erica, those ladies are not happy. We need your energy for them to smile. I started the Biggest Loser Program at the facility. Several people lose so much weight, including myself. I realized that anything is possible! I prayed everyday for change. I knew that being a customer service rep. for the rest of my life was not my long-term goal. There was so many problems and turmoil within the company. People were leaving left and right.

Furthermore, realizing that this was my chance to show them, I am capable of a promotion. The Supervisors from the other departments would come and take a look observe me. If given an instruction one time, I knew exactly what to do without it being repeated. I was offered a 10,000 raise. Life changed for my boyfriend, kids and myself. We stayed at our home for another year and saved money to purchase our first home. It was not the biggest or the prettiest but it was ours. We planned a beautiful wedding and married the following year afterwards. During the time of my promotion, I learned my new position less than 30 days. I was a Purchasing Agent, the first in Customer Service to be promoted. It was a blessing and a curse at the same time. We received a new Director, and the lady who trained me thought I was out to gain her job. She harassed me and so do the other two supervisors. She said terrible things about my children, who are honor students and play sports. I am not certain as to what made me do this. However, I started writing down everything she said and did to me. I was constantly having to explain myself and treated like the lowest of scums. I was asked to tell everything that is seen.

Although, my excitement turned into fear and stress daily. The home we just bought and all of my dreams seemed to have disappeared. My previous supervisor asked me how things are going in Purchasing? I answered, it sure does not feel warm and fuzzy life Customer Service. She says yes, it’s very different there. Maybe God does not want you to be too comfortable. That rang a bell !! She sounded like an angel. A month later, the new director changed the rules and I asked a question. He did not like what I asked him. So, he decided to fire me a whole month later. I was distraught and confused. I knew what they did was not right. I called HR and told them about the harassment that was happening. They were all working together!! I took every price of evidence and contacted the EEOC. I gave them everything and surely my case was heard. A year later, we settled out of court and I won. After being unemployed for a year. Experiencing hopeless and depression! Most importantly, change of lively hood. Finally, there was victory. My husband and I have opened up two businesses. They are a Cleaning Business and a Child Care. I have always loved children and wanted a cleaning business. Not to mention, my ultimate goal is to be a Nurse. As well as having a flexible job will allow me to be a mother, wife, maintain both businesses and attend college.

Currently, I am in my third year of College. I am three classes away from applying to the Nursing Program. Our oldest son will be attending Clark Atlanta University in the Fall of 2021. We have two other boys who are in the 6th and 2nd grade this year. While taking care of very busy little children daily. The children at E’s to Bee’s Child Care are very happy and my motto is “We Can Do Anything”. This is not only the motto for the Daycare children, it started out with our children at home. We believe in educating children and telling them they can do anything. It gives them hope, aspirations and no matter what they look like or level of thinking ability their on its known the children will start to believe it, My children has passed many tests because this is what we instill in them. Oftentimes, the children that come to me, people are saying they cannot speak or do age appropriate things. Well each time, they are proven wrong! My program has helped so many children in their daily life structure. We are so very pleased!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has never been a smooth road for me. I have had to struggle and put in so much work to experience happiness. The trials came, but it has made me who I am today. Much more thankful and humble! More appreciative when things are given. Life is never easy, but I guess for some people it is. I have experienced so much heart ace and disappointments in life. Bad things happen to good people all the time, but the reward is much better after the sorrow.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about E’s to Bee’s Day Care & E’s to Bee’s Cleaning Business?
I am a Child Care Director, Preschool Teacher and Own/Direct a Cleaning Business

I have dreams of owning a Child Care Center and continue my pattern of providing a safe place for children to learn, grow, and to be educated. I stand out because most child care providers do not educate their children. My child care stands out because the children wear uniforms and my infants are reading before the age of two years. Although it’s a smaller setting, it looks very professional and the children get the best individualized learning. Regarding the uniforms, my philosophy is that the children can all look at each other as the same. No matter what they are wearing. Some children are less fortunate and I like them to all feel that there is no competition between them. At the same time providing a nurturing, spiritual, loving environment.

The Cleaning Company is very special because we are small, but it’s a husband and wife duo. We clean Residential and Commercial Spaces. Our customers has been more than satisfied, a few hick-ups along the way. But we make every conscious effort to provide the most efficient, courteous services you could ever find. We are looking to grow our cleaning company and have consistency. Our motto is make the customer, do not let the customer make you. We are a five star company and are very affordable. We offer covid-cleaner, standard cleanings and deep cleanings. We introduced our delivery services for the disabled and the seniors who cannot get out to do errands.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The quality of characteristics that is most important to my success is that we not only talk about our companies, we show and provide live footage of the work that is being done. My professionalism and eagerness to succeed is written all over my face. To make others happy is quite enjoyable for me.
