Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebony Smith.
Hi Ebony, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I always had a passion for marketing and understanding the buyer journey, particularly in terms of advertising, especially with smaller companies and non-profit organizations that may not have been able to afford a large marketing firm to assist them with building an online presence.
I knew I wanted to help those smaller companies and non-profit organizations but I was not quite sure how, in 2017, I came across a volunteer opportunity to build an online presence for a non-profit organization through Facebook and Instagram and jumped on it. While working on that campaign, I fell in love with the entire process, from strategizing, creating content, and managing that content. After that project, I began with two clients and, over the years, have continued to grow. This year, we underwent a rebrand and I officially transitioned into full-time entrepreneurship with our headquarters based at Spark Offices in Downtown Baltimore.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road for most of my business journey. I have been supporting the business while also working full-time in the financial services industry, attending school full-time, and raising my family with my husband of 7 years. I am thankful for the challenges because they add to the overall story of Artistry Marketing Group.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a boutique digital marketing agency that specializes in consulting, social media management, and virtual assistant services to meet your company’s needs. We pride ourselves in the specialized approach that we bring to creating strategies that convert for our clients. There is not a lot of diversity within the digital marketing industry and us being a woman-owned and black-owned business sets us apart from others. I am most proud of our growth and the fact that we are still able to give back by offering heavily discounted and some complimentary services to non-profit organizations throughout the year. What matters most to you?
Balance and family, without proper balance, I would not be the business owner that I am or have the ability to create such custom experiences for my clients. Family is important because, at the end of the day, your family is your home base and foundation. I share two children with my husband; we have our daughter, Kennedy, who is five, and our son, Karter, who is eight months. I want them to be able to look back when they get older and see that mom was present and created a legacy for them.
