Exploring Life & Business with Brandon Kostinsky of PIVOT Work Spaces

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Kostinsky.

Hi Brandon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in my family’s restaurant business – started from cleaning the floors, folding pizza boxes, cooking; Then gradually moved up to managing shifts, managing operations, and then eventually Vice-President.

Eventually, me and my other (who owned the family restaurant) came to some major disagreements on the direction to take the business, and we decided it was best we parted ways. I then took the savings I had and started PIVOT WorkSpaces.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not a smooth road at all. From personal issues with addiction, learning to scale the operations of the business as we go, learning to deal with all the hats of being a small business owner all on my own (without my mother’s guidance this time). Issues with funding during Covid added extra stress to the already hard job of growing a new business – and all while being in my late twenties and at the same time finding myself and my place in this world. Only my faith has gotten me through the trials and tribulations I have faced in growing this business.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
PIVOT offers flexible shared & private office space (co-working space) in the Catonsville, Ellicott City, and Clarksville areas of Howard County & Baltimore County; with all the amenities & productivity tools you need to succeed and be productive – All at one low price & with no leases or contracts. Our shared, private & co-working office space is perfect for professionals, entrepreneurs, freelancers, students, those who work from home, and anyone else who desires modern, flexible work/office space with an energetic & productive atmosphere.

We also offer co-working management services – meaning we manage coworking spaces for other owners & landlords who don’t want to be involved in the actual day-to-day of running the business; They just want the passive revenue stream coworking & shared space offers.

How do you think about happiness?
I am still finding that out. Finding my happiness has been a major part of this journey. When I was running my family’s restaurant; I have everything a person could want – A big house on the water, two cars, an apartment at the beach, a beautiful girlfriend with a baby on the way – and yet I was still miserable on the inside. This is when I began to realize material things don’t bring happiness. and I began the search for what happiness means.
