Today we’d like to introduce you to Yetunde Oreagba.
Hi Yetunde, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my business on a whim after trying out doing balloons for a Hallelujah Night event we threw at my church. My girl Debra of Debz Entertainment put a bug in my ear to start my own decor business, and she was my first client. From there, I decided to bet on myself & respond to Ms. Jacky Oh’s story about looking for balloon stylists, and to my surprise, I was hired by one of my first celebrity clients! From there, my business has continued to grow and flourish to include other celebs, corporate clients, & friends, and family. Ultimately the credit for where I am today and how I’ve been able to grow my business from starting in the church in 2019 to having repeat clients & more growth goes to God. No doubt, I have had to work, learn how to market, hone my craft, and more, but God does the heavy lifting.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a challenge in different ways because entrepreneurship hasn’t come naturally to me. I have always supported realizing someone else’s dream and passion. So, to go from that to marketing, creating my website, implementing operations and systems, following up on leads, planning for events, and managing my social media! That has been just a bit of the learning curve. It was a struggle to learn how to niche and brand myself or how to apply for a business license, for example. All in all, though, I have learned so much about how to run an invaluable business. The only way I could have known it was by having to go through it, experience the difficulties, and make mistakes.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m known for my passion and commitment to customer service. I specialize in luxury balloon styling, and I create what is described as organic balloon structures. Each job is highly personal to me because whether I am providing the main decoration or part of a team, I aim to provide an experienced forum for clients and my guests that enhances the event experience. So, I am ready and willing to go above and beyond to support my clients in having a beautiful and successful event. I am most proud of how quickly I have grown my skills and the personal connections I make with each client.
Any big plans?
My plan for the future of IDYA Oasis is to secure a static event space where we can hire staff and also have a space available to rent out for clients. One of the main pain points for my clients is finding an event space, so a dream scenario for us is to be a one-stop-shop in a way! Overall I want to continue to hone my craft, get more skilled at balloon styling, and focus more on capturing compelling content documenting my journey that I can share on social media.
