Daily Inspiration: Meet Thunder Club

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thunder Club.

It’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Thunder Club is a close knit group of lifelong brothers and friends from Baltimore who share the same passion for writing catchy, high-energy rock music. Consisting of guitarist Pete Burkhardt, guitarist/vocalist Dennis Chen, bassist Conor Johnston and drummer John Burkhardt, Thunder Club’s large and unique sound stems from the chemistry between the musicians and the desire to push boundaries. Coupled with their lively stage presence, Thunder Club burst onto the Baltimore music scene and quickly gained a following, and has never left.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Originally, all members of Thunder Club were local to the greater Baltimore area. Through the pandemic, we’ve become much more spread out geographically. Despite the travel time and coordination of schedules, we prioritize our music and overcome the physical distance that separates us. Even with the fact that we’re geographically dispersed, Baltimore will always be our favorite city to play live music and our musical home.

As any band would know, being in a band with your best friends presents its own set of obstacles as it is a living, breathing relationship. But we all love each other always. At all times.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What sets Thunder Club apart from other rock groups is our live performance. The chemistry we share is clearly on display and is always a sure way to get the crowd moving along with us. Our most recent fond memory as a band occurred after our EP release show at the Metro Gallery when we learned that we had sold out the venue.

In the seven years we’ve been playing together, we’ve surpassed our own expectations, played countless stages, and have been lucky enough to positively affect the lives of ourselves and others with the amazing power of music.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Baltimore has an extremely tight knit music scene that has the ability to open so many doors both within and outside the city limits.

Our bass player is allergic to shellfish so the fact that Baltimore is associated with crabs is a huge bummer.
