Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Walsh.
Hi Samantha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I began doing photography when my sisters both got pregnant within 3 months of each other. I wanted my niece and nephew to have high-quality baby photos. From there, I branched out into doing concert photography and started up my own photography business!
I’ve gotten very involved in my local music scene. I travel everywhere from Charles Town WV to Baltimore/DC for shows to cover artists big and small.
I have a passion for music photography and going to shows so photographing concerts was made for me! I do primarily portrait work for my business, and concert photography is a side avenue from that. I contribute to a music magazine called Shutter16, I’m pretty proud of getting on with them. They’re a great bunch to work with.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a pretty smooth road! Learning the exposure triangle was a challenge at first, but now that I have it down, it’s smooth sailing.
I’m always looking forward to what I can tackle next as a photographer.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Technology is constantly changing. Mirrorless cameras are huge right now, a lot of camera makers are halting the production of DSLR cameras to focus on mirrorless. Who knows what will happen next as far as camera technology goes?
