Daily Inspiration: Meet Melinda Rapp

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melinda Rapp. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Melinda Rapp is a beautiful woman of God, Wife to husband Steve Rapp, and mother of four Kailyn (16), Gia (11), Jace (6), and Skylar (4).

Melinda wears many hats as she follows Gods calling on her life as an entrepreneur, an author of children’s books, a photographer (LinnieBea Photography), and a former Pre-Kindergarten Teacher. Melinda has to beat the odds time and time again and she gives God all the glory.

Melinda has dedicated her life to serving God in all capacities, as she continues to find her voice to spread his word in her own unique way. Melinda has earned degrees in Fashion Merchandising (2005), Early Childhood Education (2015), and Educational Leadership (2017).

Melinda uses all of these degrees as she works with the next generation through her various endeavors. She has hosted a summer modeling program for girls where she teaches the girls to work the runway, and love God, themselves, and others. The summer program is what gave birth to the Pretty Girl Pledge Series.

Melinda is currently working on her next release Pretty Girl Pledge Journal which goes along with her 2020 release with the same title. The journal serves as a reference guide for the book that explains the acronym P.R.E.T.T.Y (Pray, Read. Edify, Talk, Think, Yield) in greater depth and allows the reader to study, read, and write their own thoughts. goals, and aspirations with God at the core.

Melinda loves music, good food, chocolate, the beach, and the sound of children’s laughter. She believes that her investment into a child today will make a world of a difference tomorrow and forever. She believes that through love, faith, and standing on the word of God, nothing is impossible!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I frequently remind myself that anything worth having will not be easy. Being a wife, mom, teacher, and entrepreneur, really takes work, it takes sacrifice, and it takes time to blossom into what you really desire. I only had my associate’s degree before becoming a mom.

I obtained my bachelor’s as a mom of two, and my Master’s as a mom of three with one on the way. It was a struggle to complete my studies as a wife, mom, and full-time employee in various positions over the years. I struggled to find balance as my family grew, my dreams did too.

I have a friend that always encourages me to stay true to myself and not get caught up in my titles, she reminds me to take time for myself and to never stop pursuing my dreams even as I support my family in theirs. This alone is a daily struggle that I am still learning to navigate. Some days are better than others, but I am always mindful of never losing myself.

Growing up, we didn’t have much in a single-parent home with my dad, and three siblings, I was the only girl in the house. I was cooking full meals complete with fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, cornbread, and kool-aid at the age of 10.

Leaving for college was one of the hardest decisions because I had to leave my brothers who often looked to me as their mother figure. I told them years later that I had to do it for them, to show them that they too could do anything they put their minds to and to not be afraid to try new things, go new places, and never stop learning or exploring.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am most proud of my latest books/projects with Pretty Girl Pledge because they are true works of the heart. My heart’s desire is to share the word of God with girls/women all over the world in fun, and simple ways.

Working in education, I got to witness the pure hearts of children and their ability to love and understand the word of God in its simplest form with so much zeal. They always inspired me in my walk with God to stay true. They would memorize their bible verses, sing, and dance for God with so much innocence it was beautiful to witness.

With my books, I hope to inspire girls to truly pursue a genuine relationship with God so that they know who and whose they are in order to combat the drama of everyday life with grit and confidence.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
My integrity, resilience, and optimism are my top three essential qualities.

Without those three I would not have been able to reach any of my goals. My faith has been my guide because no matter what I am going after I always remember that NOTHING is too hard for God, and that life is filled with seasons, lessons, and beauty.

My integrity has put me in positions/rooms/tables that I may not have been qualified for. My resilience has allowed me to bounce back from every “no”, let down, and difficulty I have faced. My optimism truly sets me apart from the Eeyore of this world that can never seem to see the bright side of situations, I can!

I wear a smile, I shed my tears when necessary, and I allow myself to push through whichever phase of life I am in with these qualities intact.
