Daily Inspiration: Meet Justin Brooks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Brooks.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started doing background acting on a few movies. The first was Wonderwoman 1988 and then I met someone while I was doing background work for the charm city kings movie about the dirt bike life in Baltimore city. From there I did an urban web series on YouTube called Project heat Baltimore. So, I do a lil acting but I just recently got into the 2A movement and I’m training to become a firearms instructor so that I can help my people become safe lawful gun owners to protect their family and themselves. How I got into that is my wife’s coworker’s husband asked me one simple question. That question was how do I protect my family and I couldn’t even answer him. That was a year ago since then I got my HQL and my license to carry in 32 different states I also got my private detectives license and my license to Cary in the state of Maryland while I’m on active duty working as a private Detective.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Has it been a smooth road I’ll say not as smooth as I would like. There were some stumbles and sometimes I felt like maybe I was just meant to punch a clock and that’s that. But I learned if you feel strongly about something you will keep going no matter the obstacles that may be in your way.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What I do for a full-time job is work on the ramp for southwest airlines. I love it, it provides me with the income to take care of my family but it also gives me the ability to travel and see the world and set my schedule so that u can also venture out to make multiple streams of income so I’m just not reliant on my full-time job. I also act as I said. I’m most proud of my work on project heat Baltimore. What sets me apart from others is I will have something in my sight and I won’t stop until I achieve that goal. I feel like in an old-school type of man where my name is my name and my word is my word. When people see me or hear my name, they know that I’m a standup guy and I keep my word. What I’m starting to specialize in is gun safety I’m taking classes and working on getting my firearms instructor license among many other things.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
Some apps that help me are train uscca for all the firearms stuff along with the warrior-poet society app for gun training as well. Some podcasts that I listen to are black man with a gun by Rev. Ken Blanchard and Gun talk radio. To do my best in life I’m about to start a new journey with that by trying to become the best man, father, and husband by joining the oldest ferternal order known to man in the masons. I hope to start that process very soon.
