Daily Inspiration: Meet JoeAnn Wiley

Today we’d like to introduce you to JoeAnn Wiley.

Hi JoeAnn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The Herbal Dee-Vah brand was created to provide a more holistic approach to healing the body. Herbal Dee-Vah is a black, woman-owned business based in Baltimore, MD. My desire to learn more about the healing power of herbs came about from my desire to heal my family and myself.

As a certified medical coder and auditor, I read hospital notes all the time of patients who are suffering from conditions that ultimately can be reversed or at least their symptoms can be reduced by proper herbal supplements. I have also completed the Certified Herbalist Program through Heart of Herbs School. With over a year of learning and researching, we believed it was time to start this company to share this knowledge with everyone. Each herb is researched and blended perfectly to give your body the ultimate benefits by drinking tea. Most of our clientele are those seeking a jump start in their weight loss, those who suffer from pain and other chronic conditions, and those who are just looking for peace in a cup.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was not a smooth beginning, lol. I believe the biggest challenge for our company was finding our target audience. but has also been the fun in it as well. Teaching and exposing others to the healing powers in herbs and in nature. Making doubters into believers one teacup at a time.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
The Herbal Dee- Vah was birthed from my need to want to help and educate others on how to reset the body and allowing the body to do its job and that’s healing itself, by providing quality and affordable healing herbal blends. All blends are researched and used by us before promoting or even suggesting the natural remedy to others. I am most proud of how well our company is doing in such a short time. We have only been established since March of this year. I think what sets us apart from others is that I have worked in the medical field for seven years now. I received my CPC and my CPMA through AAPC in 2014. With my work, I am constantly reviewing and documenting medical procedures of patients who are suffering from ailments that can be reversed or at least the minimized. I hear all the time that diseases are hereditary, but I believe that the behavior is what is passed down to generations, not the sickness. The behavior of poor nutrients and the lack of knowledge of how to properly nourish your body.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe there is a risk in stepping out and even beginning your goals. There’s a risk of failure. There’s a risk of your business not being received, the list of risks can go on and on. But, it is so important to remember that there is no reward in life without risks.
