Daily Inspiration: Meet jaydot Joseph

Today we’d like to introduce you to jaydot Joseph.

Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us how you got started?
After leaving the military, I started tattooing out of my apartment in 2012. I quit my full-time job and started tattooing full-time in 2013 when I opened my first tattoo shop in Randallstown. I named the shop Dreamteam tattoos in homage to Baltimore’s DreamteamDjs and Dreamteam Skate Association, which have been huge parts of my life to this day. As the shop’s popularity quickly grew. I started tattooing the who’s who in the city and quickly grew to several celebrity clients. As time passed, I moved the shop downtown to accommodate the higher demand for art; Dreamteam grew to be a household name in the city and has been home to some of the best artists in the area.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Working for yourself is never a smooth road. I had to learn taxes, dealing with employees, and all types of financial ups and downs, including slow season. Not only did I have to continue to learn the art of tattooing, but now I have to learn to be a full businessman.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am known in the city for being a versatile artist, able to do super minimalist tattoos and big detailed pieces. While providing a professional but fun environment that makes my clients feel comfortable. I am a Dreamteam DJ, a party host, a youth coach, and a mentor.

What matters most to you? Why?
Customer service. Good customer service brings referrals. Most of the clients I have today were referred by other clients.
