Daily Inspiration: Meet Destiny Jackson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Jackson.

Hi Destiny, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Although my major is Film, my love and appreciation of photography have grown since I received my first camera, my prized Canon T6. I’ve always been that person that was constantly behind the camera, recording and documenting everything that my family and friends were up to. I’m 100% sure that’s where my liking of everything media-related started. I started as someone who had no idea about what I wanted to do as a career, and ever since I’ve come into college, I’ve been inspired by the creatives around me for the past 4 years.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s never a smooth road for anyone, no matter what stage of life you’re at. I’ve had a lot of personal struggles and a couple of professional struggles as well. Also, funding for my dream tends to be a significant thorn in my side that I can’t ignore. But I am thankful for the struggles since they have helped me become who I am today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am currently a Videography Intern with the Washington Commanders for their upcoming 22-23 season. As a lifelong fan, I have the greatest opportunity to showcase my skills by capturing meaningful moments through the medium of video. I created my first real edit in my second week of being here, so I’m already grateful for the mentors and peers I have encountered so far. I believe my drive sets me apart from others, which got me to this point in my life. I may not know the answers all the time or how to do certain things, but I am always ready and willing to learn more.

What would you say has been one of your most important lessons?
One of my most important lessons has always been to make time for yourself regardless of what you have. Often people burn out after a while because they never took care of themselves as needed.
