Daily Inspiration: Meet Danielle Ellington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Ellington.

Hi Danielle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always loved photography, ever since I was in middle school. But it wasn’t my first love so I pursue other career opportunities. In 2016, I was diagnosed with breast cancer which gave me a year of surgeries and self-doubt in myself.

Having a deep conversation with my husband William, he brought a great idea of using what I like to do into a photography business. So I started I Am What I Am Images where I inspire, encourage, and empower women through photography.

I provide portraits, boudoir, and branding photography services. I want to make sure that I let every woman know that she is worth it. She is beautiful. She is special and powerful!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Last 2 years, my company did take a dip. With the crises of Covid and everything shutting down, I didn’t know if I would be able to continue to provide my client the full service that they deserve.

So I took the time to regroup, work on my craft, and educated myself. At the end of 2021, I decided to revamp my business and go at it full force.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In my professional life, I am a meeting & event planner, so I am a person of detail and logistics. I take pride in my career and all that I have achieved. I use all that I have learned in my photography business.

I know that I am a fish in the ocean and I take what I know to set myself apart. It has helped me in how I communicate with my clients and how I plan out each photoshoot.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters to me is my family. I am a wife and mom of 2, which keeps me very busy. At the end of the day, I do what I do to help my family. To show my kids that to turn what you love into a business can be a great thing.
