Conversations with Unique Cole

Today we’d like to introduce you to Unique Cole.

Hi Unique; please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It all started with a rumor in high school that I wanted to inform everyone the rumor was false. As the generation becomes more reliant on technology, I thought the best way to do this would be to make a YouTube video; I needed to catch everyone’s attention; I needed something different; I needed a plan. I decided why not do a storytime on the rumor confirming the allegations are true and creating a fake scenario, only to tell them I made up the whole story. My goal was to reach the target audience, which was just my school, but instead, I got 57,000 people across the world. Keep in mind I used to make videos just for fun with hopes of becoming a full-time YouTuber, but after a while, those dreams had died off as they were deemed “unrealistic’ to others. I started receiving numerous compliments, and people wanted more. I never expected it to happen so fast and never thought I would regain that enlightenment from creating content. Seeing people enjoy my personality and videos sparked my creativity and to pursue my dream of being a full-time content creator. That was the day Sincerely Unique was born. From only 10 subscribers to 4.65k on YouTube and 12.1k followers on TikTok, it is becoming a dream come true. My life’s true purpose is to lead others to pursue others to think outside the box when it comes to having a career. You don’t have to do the norm like being a teacher or a police officer just because society says so, and there’s nothing wrong with those career choices, but you choose your career and don’t let others do it for you.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Growing up in the DMV, it has been hard to gain recognition and support. Some people only believe in you when it benefits them, or they see you doing well; my brother and I used to live in the south from time to time over the summers living with our grandmother or sister in Georgia or Florida. You could honestly see the difference in hospitality. Although I suffer from anxiety, I refuse to let geographic location affect my success. I forced myself to network with people and asked if they would like to collaborate to benefit both of us, regardless of whether they said yes or no. I continued to pursue my dreams of having to deal with an anxious feeling 24/7 takes a toll on you as an individual because you spend too much time thinking about how others portray you, but to overcome that is to live as if you’re the main character. People will either like you or hate you regardless, and being shy or nervous won’t change it. I would rather be bold and assertive and exert my full potential than care what someone thinks because they didn’t experience my whole personality, but I live for me and do the things I do for me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a full-time student and content creator globally known as Sincerely Unique on YouTube and ‘Sin” or “@iammsin” on TikTok and Instagram. I tend to make videos in the form of vlogs, skits, pranks, fashion inspiration, etc. My work is versatile. I love my ability to express my creativity through editing and production while positively impacting my community and inspiring others.

Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share? We’re always looking for lessons we can learn in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis.
During the crisis, there was a limit on traveling, and I learned how to make videos in my home that didn’t require me to leave.
