Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruztique Kelly.
Hi Ruztique, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Since a young child, I have used writing as an expression of emotions. I had so many notebooks; I couldn’t even keep up with them.
While growing up in an abusive home, I was never allowed to voice my thoughts, my hurt, or my pain–so I turned to writing. Writing allowed me to express my feelings and use it as a diary. After my parents divorced, I began to blossom as a young woman.
I had to learn how to figure out work, school, and my personal life, all while trying to heal from a broken home. Trying to navigate life as a teenager, primarily on your own is ROUGH. Despite this hardship, if you saw me, you saw an infectious smile full of bright energy.
With the struggles I faced, I realized other young women are also going through similar situations as me. I was able to turn my life around to be more positive, and I want to show others they can do the same. I use my social platforms, blogs, and my podcast to encourage young women to be the BEST version of themselves.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has NOT been smooth at all, but I wouldn’t change it for anything.
I’m originally from Little Rock, Arkansas so moving here was starting over for me. It was the middle of a global pandemic, and so much was changing at one time for me. As a child, I already went through so many trials and tribulations with abuse and homelessness. Moving here and launching my personal brand was like reinventing myself for who I wanted to be.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I currently work as a social media community specialist for McCormick and Company. I’m one of the many faces behind your favorite spice and condiment brands. Day to day, I can be found scheduling content, interacting with consumers, or analyzing numbers. I’m coming up on my one-year anniversary at my first “big girl” job, and couldn’t be more thrilled. I’m probably most known for my vibrant personality or my long nails!
I’m most proud of some of the real-time moments my brands have participated in that yielded great engagement! It’s always exciting seeing your work/ideas do well. I think what sets me apart from others is I’m a content creator myself, so I’m always on the prowl for new and emerging trends to partake in… or not!
What are your plans for the future?
I honestly have no idea what my future plans are at the moment. I feel like the opportunities are so endless, and I’m only 24. I never want to box myself in or label myself.
I’m looking forward to growth, new experiences, and advancing my career in the digital marketing space.
