Today we’d like to introduce you to Michele Harper.
Hi Michele, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story begins in Baltimore, Md. I started reading at a young age, and my books of choice included mythology, astrology, and art. I was advanced for my age, and grown-ups were fascinated by choices. One of my favorite books was the Time-Life book of Leonardo DaVinci. I took this book to show & tell in the 3rd grade, and my teacher was so impressed that she asked me to borrow and keep it. This journey also led me to read books by Shakti Gawain, “Living in the Light” and “Creative Visualization.” These books were about the beginning of my recognition of how the mind works in accomplishing your dreams.
I was inspired to dream big and drew my passion to the fashion and beauty world. I was able new create an international legwear company called “Look from London Hosiery.” I moved to NYC, and my company was featured in various high-end luxury stores and fashion magazines. This was my life from my early 20’s to my mid 30’s. It was exciting and face-paced. Fast forward, I got burned out and started questioning how I lived. By this time, I was a single mother parent, and I lost the business in a divorce. This led to a self-help journey and luxury retail sales. Working with clients intimately and listening to their concerns and problems brought me back to how the mind works. As life creates opportunities with twists and turns, my child grew up and moved to California, and I was dating a musician who lived in California. My 3rd act was moving there as well. Once there, I remarried and lost myself. I was driving on the freeway and saw a sign on the way to the Hypnosis Motivation Institute. My spirit took over and drove me there. This began my journey as a hypnotherapist. I was drawn to this path because of my journey with mind over matter, learning how to help others reconnect to themselves and overcome personal obstacles. This is the birth of Breathe Focus Hypnosis. I help creatives overcome life’s challenges by offering techniques that combat depression, addiction, and lack of motivation.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The struggles I have faced are being true to my path and not being discouraged by changes brought on by aging, and not being understood. I’ve always been an oddball visionary. Never quite fitting in on a road lest traveled. My mother told me at a young age that I was ahead of my time, which gave me the freedom to pursue my interests.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a new-age alchemist. I am a hypnotherapist and energy healer. My specialty service is called “Get your mind right for success.” I use crystals, sound healing, oracle cards, color therapy, reiki, and hypnosis to help my clients course correct. The subconscious mind becomes distracted by these tools, allowing the person to become aware and receptive to changes and shifts for success. The shifts are immediate.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some changes you expect to see over the next five to ten years?
I see hypnotherapy and energy work as the new medicine. It’s already happening. We see shows about crystals, reiki, color therapy, and hypnosis. I’m a pioneer in this field, and now the world is catching up. People are ready. “The teacher comes when the students are ready” My old friends are reaching out for this sacred knowledge.
