Conversations with Melissa Garfinkle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Garfinkle.

Hi Melissa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my food blog in 2017, just as a way to declutter my camera roll. I have always loved food and believed in the phrase “camera eats first.” I came by the idea to create my Instagram with the help and encouragement of a friend.

I realized that I enjoyed photographing meals that I would eat and meals of my friends and family as well. I would say I uploaded content fairly often, however, I didn’t put much effort into my posts.

Fast forward to 2020, the year of the pandemic, and I focused a lot more of my time and energy on my blog. It became more than just a way to store my photos and I enjoyed spending time creating content. Within the last year, I have gained so much through my blog. I have had many opportunities to work with businesses to promote their products and their growth. I have communicated with people from all around the world who share these similar interests with me, and I have also formed friendships.

I have learned strategies to grow my business and I have discovered new and exciting ways to deliver content. I have also discovered my passion for social media content creation. Photographing delicious and beautiful food is something I genuinely enjoy doing, and I upload content that will assist with my own brand’s growth, but more importantly, bring attention to businesses and establishments.

Within the last year, I have gained 1000’s followers and my blog has grown immensely. This is more than just a hobby to me and I am hopeful and excited to continue to grow my brand.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
For the most part, it has been a smooth journey to build my brand. I have learned it does take time and plenty of attention to keep it up.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I photograph food and beverages that I feel are appealing to the public. I upload content consisting of food and/or beverages from various establishments to inform people of places they may not have ever been to or heard of.

I like to provide recommendations for anyone who is searching for delicious eats, and I specialize in suggesting “foodie” dates. I am most proud of the connections that I form with people from all over, and the connections that may form as a result of my content.

I am set apart from others because I enjoy traveling near and far to discover new businesses and establishments, thus providing new recommendations for my audience.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I advise anyone to go after what they are passionate about, and when they find whatever that is, it won’t feel like work.
