Conversations with Kourtney Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kourtney Johnson.

Hi Kourtney, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Let’s see, I was born and raised in Baltimore, MD. My younger years consisted of Catholic School and channeling my creative energy into sports, music, and fashion! At about 13 years old I started to model.

Once I graduated from high school, I went to York College of PA and then transferred and finished my college career at the University of Baltimore in 2015. I’m very creative and I love to channel my energy into the arts, business, and more! I have a unisex fragrance line that I’m revamping, and I am also a model & I produce music! I’d like to think of myself as a “Renaissance Woman.”

In March of 2020, I started a cleaning company called “Get Clean Service”. The idea hit me like a ton of bricks. I’ve cleaned all my life and I’ve been really good at it. So much, my family and friends always would ask for my help or I’d just clean just to do it. I knew this idea was going to stick! My grandmother inspired and continues to inspire me.

She’s the cleanest woman I know! My grandmother worked for Morgan State University in the housekeeping department and she was the most respected woman on the campus! The students loved how she would clean the areas for them. She still has a sharp eye and great skills! I have a great vision for the company, we’re making wonderful progress and we’re just getting started!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has its ups and downs like any business but I can say that the struggles that we’ve endured have been 95% growing pains. Ultimately when you start a business you don’t fully know until you know lol! However, if you keep an open mind and embody a child-like curiosity you’ll find your way and the answers will flow to you.

Also, MARKET MARKET MARKET. No need to dive further into the obvious benefits of that lol. Lastly, I’d suggest seeking sound mentorship and a business coach.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I model. I make music. I have a cleaning business. I have a fragrance line. I’m probably the best chef in Maryland. I’m known for being a sweet, respectful, smart, and honest young woman. Publicly, I’m known as a model and businesswoman.

I’m really proud of my continuous growth and the new heights that I can continue to reach! I’m really proud of myself, my mind, my abilities, and my capabilities. I’m really not trying to sound cocky but I’m pretty sure I can do anything if I put my mind to it! Being me is what sets me apart from everyone else. Being my usual funny, confident, compassionate, fly, and cute smart self lol!

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Personality and Relatability I’d say. I always find a commonality in someone and build from there.
