Conversations with Kelly

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Cooking is something that Kelly really enjoys naturally. About five years ago, he made some cream of crab soup and entered a cooking contest and won. After winning and word got around, he started selling the soup because at this point, it’s award-winning. Before that win…he entered his ribs into a cook off and won first place so a light went off in our heads so we started selling dinners and they got really popular which led us to think why not just cater. We had no idea what to expect when we made the decision to cater but word of mouth and prayer helped us get to where we are today. We are going at our own pace and we have been catering for about three years. Our hope is to gain more traction and get bigger.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Absolutely not! At times business got slow or someone who was supposed to serve doesn’t show up. Eventually, you learn from the shortcomings and keep going because business is not always roses and rainbows.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Kelly is the chef of our operation. He is known for his cream of crab soup that is our most requested dish. What sets Kelly apart from others is he cooks with a passion that makes the food taste different that what makes the food amazing.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Networking has probably been the most beneficial for our business, being able to have conversations with people that are doing what we are doing and understand the struggles with this business and give practical advice is priceless.
