Conversations with Jared Tracey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared Tracey.

Hi Jared, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey into the unknown at a young age. At the age of 16, I saw my father’s apparition at the cemetery he was buried 2 years prior.

He was leaning on my car with his arms crossed wearing the same clothes he was buried in. He was there for a split second and gave me a head nod and then slowly dissipated.

It was at that moment I knew I had to figure out the how and why of what I just witnessed. I got with one of my best friends Brent Smith because he was going through activities at his home as well. We formed Pasadena Paranormal Investigators, which is now Pasadena Paranormal.

The team consists of Ed Harden, Brent Smith, my fiancé Jackie Buchanan and myself. Over the years, we have built up our credibility and are known in the paranormal field as truthful and respectful investigators. We are also respected and known for the knowledge and legitimacy of our evidence.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Every road has its ups and downs. We had to take a break for a few years because it’s very hard to juggle life, family, day job responsibilities, and our passion to investigate the paranormal.

We came back because this is what we love to do. We don’t make money doing this and we really don’t care about that. We want to bring legitimacy back to a field we love and feel desperately need it.

To keep going you have to have willing clients. Sometimes it is a struggle to get inside the historic locations we do because the paranormal field gets a bad wrap with all the fakers and made for tv folks.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The 4 members of this team work so well together that it’s like a well-oiled machine. We all know our roles and know how to get the job done.

I am the Lead Investigator, I find our locations. Work with the clients to schedule investigations. Come up with the investigation flow for a location. Every location is different so it’s never the same layout. You also have to adjust on the fly.

Brent Smith is the mad scientist lol not only is he the co-founder but he is the tech wizard creating new devices to use in the field. He also puts together our documentary-style episodes you can see on our YouTube channel.

Ed Harden is our sensitive. Ed has abilities only he can understand. He is very valuable to the team in setup and feelings during the investigation. He has a connection with the other side and our eyes to what is going on around us.

Jackie Buchanan is our case manager. She looks into the history of the locations we investigate. With her help, I’m able to create a game plan. She also finds locations for me to contact.

She’s a little green when it comes to the investigation but she is progressing very well and I am proud of the way she is evolving.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
The paranormal field is cutthroat loaded with drama and backstabbing.

A lot of people out there do it for the wrong reasons and could really care less about legitimacy only about the views.

If you’re starting off and looking for a mentor or someone to look up to I’d say do your research and find someone with morals, the passion to prove, creditable, and someone willing to throw out a piece of “evidence” if it’s not 100% real.
