Conversations with Donte Fisher

Today we’d like to introduce you to Donte Fisher.

Hi Donte, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started with a random desire to take pictures of my kids 6 years ago. Upon my journey in learning the craft, I started to expand my skills and moved into focusing mainly on weddings. In my four years of shooting weddings, I have become one of the top black wedding photographers in my city.

As far as my business Fisher Visuals go our mission statement is: “At Fisher Visuals Photography, we offer something unique to our clients: A commitment to crafting personalized, meaningful imagery in modern style. We love our clients and work with each couple personally to create a mutually exciting vision of their wedding day. Life is full of endless possibilities, and so is your wedding day. We can’t wait to get to know you genuinely and translate that into works of art that will shine on your walls for years to come.

Our team has photographed multiple weddings as professional photographers. We’ve learned that this business is so much more than photography. We’re here to make amazing suggestions, craft the perfect wedding photo plan, solve wardrobe malfunctions (expect the unexpected), & help you look & feel completely radiant!!”

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, they always say nothing in life worth having is easy. In this industry, there are a million different wedding photographers a million of them have the same style as you, but my job is to explain how I am different from the rest and worth that rate I charge.

I have gone through a struggling year to book within my first two years, Covid where the industry was shut down to having almost 150 weddings under my belt. I tell anyone who is interested in being an entrepreneur no matter what is it there will be a down part if you can prepare and be ready for it you deserve it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I would say my biggest compliment when it comes to reviews and feedback is how flexible I am and how helpful I am when it comes to planning the wedding day. I give my couples recommendations, help them with timelines, send reminders for things they need for their day, also am willing to reschedule the wedding date with my client free of charge.

I have heard horror stories about how customers book a photographer and never hear from them until it’s the day off or before and I just don’t ever want my customers to experience that with me

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
That I never went to school to learn photography was something I learned over a year or self-taught.

  • Weddings $2,500-5,500
