Conversations with Aparna Lingampalli

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aparna Lingampalli.

Hi Aparna, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My passion for cooking started when I got married and came to America 20 years back. I didn’t know any cooking. I started trying various dishes now that I had my own kitchen. Some were successful and some were not good. Hubby’s honest feedback and willingness to eat no matter how it turned out encouraged me to try more and learn more.

My interest in blogging started when my daughter was born. I wanted to document my recipes so that she could have something to fall back on when she grew up and I was not with her. I started my blog with her name in it. “Sumi’s weblog”. When youtube started to make its mark, I wanted to make videos to encourage other people to cook delicious homemade food as well. I want to tell my audience that with proper planning, you can be in and out of the kitchen fast with delicious and healthy food for your family. You can find lots of stuff from recipes, gardening, and personal care on my channel “Aparna’s HomeTV”.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. There have been challenges along the way. 1. When the recipes don’t turn out the way you imagine, it’s discouraging. Some days are bad and you don’t want to try a new recipe ever again, but I shake off my fear and keep going and keep trying. Lots of my published recipes are tried various times on my family and they are approved by my family so that you can try them with no fear.

2. Many people don’t have the patience to cook. So it’s hard to get viewers and people to try and tell me what they thought of the experience. It’s discouraging, but I keep going with only one thought in my mind that the future generation needs to know these recipes and try them.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a housewife. I am proud of it and thankful I get an opportunity to take care of my family. I am known for my cooking and vegetable gardening in my community, and I am proud of it. My passion for cooking, gardening and willingness to learn new techniques sets me apart from others.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I am the most introverted person you will ever meet.
