Community Highlights: Meet Violesia Tull of Fashionably Chic Tour

Today we’d like to introduce you to Violesia Tull.

Hi Violesia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started Fashionably Chic Tour in 2007 right here in the basement of my Baltimore home. I was looking for my identity and what I wanted to do in the world. I was lost and then I had the big AHA moment a monumental moment. I used the mock name Fashionably Chic Tour just so I could get moving quickly. My goal for the Fashionably Chic Tour was to create a place for women to connect through their love of shopping, thrifting, vintage, and consignment clothes. We kicked off our first tours and quickly realized we were the first to do this sort of fashion tour (moving people shop-to-shop on a motorcoach) that we quickly grabbed the attention of Yelp who immediately became a sponsor and city officials such as Former Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.

So now, nearly 14 years later, there is a lot to reflect on as I have come so far. Our Fashionably Chic Tours has expanded to offer several tours a year. We still cover Baltimore, of course, but now we travel to others cities across the United States shopping and exploring. In 2022 we have our first international trip… Ladies we are going to Paris!

In addition to the touring side of my business, I have expanded much more into personal styling, on-demand styling, and corporate styling for launches and previews. During this time, we also built a group of “FAB” women, a network of Fashion Ambassadors in Baltimore, and I was able to work with fabulous ladies for some incredible events, photoshoots, and film. I also recently have taken up the role of Fashion Editor for a women’s publication which really expands my reach and allows me to continue to encourage other women to feel good about themselves through fashion.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey has been up and down like most businesses with new business owners. During challenging times, I leaned on my faith and some incredible friends/ networks from right here in Baltimore and women’s organizations, like Girls Night, that I have joined over the years. The support was key to me overcoming my challenges and keeping my head up during the tough times.

Another big challenge for the Fashionably Chic Tour was the pandemic. It is challenging to run tours while everyone is in lockdown, traveling in groups is difficult and our boutiques are closed. This challenge however is very important for us to overcome because we care about supporting Baltimore’s businesses. The more tours we have the more opportunities we can bring to small businesses as a majority of our tour guests are new visitors.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
When people think of the Fashionably Chic Tour they think of a day filled with fabulous fashionistas, fashion, and fun. We call it the ultimate fashion experience. We encourage fashionistas across the globe to join us as we discover the most well-known fashion districts in the world… cities that every fashionista should travel to in their lifetime such as Paris, Milan, New York, Los Angeles, and of course my hometown, Baltimore.

Aside from the tour, we offer a variety of styling services such as complete style makeovers, special event styling, personal shopping, closet updates, and new since the pandemic online and virtual styling. Styling and shopping can now be done online with a professional, it is so quick and easy. You can be out the door for your date or on a stage looking great all while chatting and shopping online. Another new addition since the pandemic is our subscription shopping. With the rise in online shopping, our busy clients can now hire us monthly to update their wardrobe and constantly be on the lookout for items that fit their digital closet.

Our expansion into styling has brought a lot of attention, which is amazing and we are very grateful, but it is very important for us as a company to focus on each woman. As women, we are all created special and we are all designed differently. We want every fabulous female who comes on a tour or uses or styling services to feel confident, fearless, and fabulous.

How do you think about happiness?
Pulling out the perfect outfit makes me happy. It sets the right tone for the day. If I am looking great, I feel great, and I know can conquer the world…. which is probably why I have been in business for 14 years. My relationship with my Heavenly Father, My amazing Children, My Mom, Friends, and Family however would probably tell you, it is Oreo’s.. double stuffed. Those also make me smile.
