Today we’d like to introduce you to Nic Nixon.
Hi Nic, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been really into comics, cosplay and fairytales. I started out doing cosplay photography and trying to recreate my favorite characters. It was a hobby and something I did in my free time. In 2018 I met my fiancé, we had a whirlwind romance and I experienced my own real-life fairytale and magic. I proposed to my fiancé in Cinderellas castle at Disney and got to capture some of our own magic. It was then that I shifted to engagement and wedding photography. I enjoyed the real-life magic in those photos. My fiancé was very supportive and impressed with my photos from these shoots. This year she decided to open Nixon LLC. She has the mind for business and I’m able to focus on my art. We both enjoy getting to spend so much time around people in love. It helps to keep our spark going and reminds us everyday how blessed we are to have found each other. The fact that we get to help people preserve their own fairytale/love story is just a bonus.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Starting a photography business isn’t easy because the market is flooded and there are so many people buying cameras and calling themselves a photographer. The struggle is figuring out how to set yourself apart. We’ve been blessed to have each other and an amazing support network of friends and family who want to see us succeed.
We’ve been impressed with Nixon LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Nixon LLC focuses on all art forms involving film and photography. The bulk of our business is weddings and engagements and we love being a part of people’s special day. During the week (when we aren’t doing weddings) we work on short films, headshots, event photography, actors reels, cosplay photography, baby showers, gender reveals, commercials and web content for other business’ and influencers. We are known for our short films and our wedding and engagement photography. With my fiancé’s business mind and my experience and ability, we are able to offer our clients so much more. I have a degree in Media Production and I’m always taking courses to improve my craft. I’m the first/only person in my family to graduate from college and to have someone believe in me enough to open a business is such an accomplishment and blessing.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
No one can do it alone. Be kind to others and that kindness will come back to you.
