Community Highlights: Meet Lauren Bosk of Bosk Brand Management

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Bosk.

Hi Lauren, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’d love to share my backstory and how I began my career working in events and social media. I have been working at The Charles in Federal Hill since 2018. This is my first job in events, and I love it! I have a background in retail sales and have always loved connecting with the customer. I’m very social and a 9-5 desk job has never been me. This job allows me to work with people everyday and brings out my creative side. My day-to-day work life is planning guest’s private events such as birthdays, engagement parties, and company events. But we also host several public events throughout the year which are huge for The Charles. My favorite event to plan every year is our Anniversary party which is always on the first Thursday of October. Our actual anniversary date is October 17, 2017. The anniversary party always has a theme and it’s a celebration and look back at how far we’ve come. We decorate to theme, add a few fun vendors, and even have a complimentary open bar for the first hour of the event with passed appetizers! This year will be our 5th anniversary and I can’t believe where the time has gone! We also always plan a Halloween themed event every year, a holiday party with Brightside Boutique, and of course, a huge NYE party.

My social media business sort of was unplanned. I have always had a passion for creating content and love doing content photo shoots for The Charles but never imagined I would turn this into a career when I started here. Over the last year and a half, I’ve worked with a few other companies on the side to brand their social media pages. I hope to add another company to my portfolio in 2022.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest challenge/obstacle occurred during COVID. 2020 was looking to be our biggest year yet in events at The Charles. We had so many big events on the calendar with companies and public events planned. I had even had a preliminary call with Kyle Cooke from Summer House to have a “Summer Should Be Fun” event with his canned cocktail, Loverboy! However, late February and early March companies began cancelling each day. I remember texting my boss saying, “This is not looking good.” About a week later, the city along with the world shut down. I focused on the social media side of the business during the shutdown, and we really engaged a lot of new people on The Charles account. I really just enjoyed coming up with creative posts and captions each week. Everyone was at home sitting on their phones daily. Events are slowly coming back but not where it was in January of 2020.

My social media business is still in a growth period but and is still my side hustle now. I am working to bring on new clients and mainly rely on referrals from other companies/people I’ve worked with. The biggest challenge with my social media business is the agency competition. So many PR and advertising agencies offer social media services and that’s tough to compete with when I am a one woman show.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I started Bosk Brand Management in 2021. I offer content creation and social media management for businesses/clients. I love a photo shoot and one of my passions is adding creative flair to a brand. I bring a personal touch to a brand and engage on the company’s account daily to build their client base. Social media is all about building that connection with people. I spend a lot of time getting to know the company and understanding their brand to connect people to their product or service.

What does success mean to you?
Success to me isn’t wealth. Of course, money helps but I think success is loving what you do, living the life you envision for yourself, and truly being happy. I think success to me is reaching my personal and professional goals. Right now, it’s starting my own business and I think I’m on track to achieve this.
