Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathy Nelson.
Hi Kathy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2017, after much encouragement, we took the leap and starting making our toffee commercially. And who knew!?! The response has been crazy! Since then, we’ve expanded to create a line of decadent, globally-inspired toffees and barks – basically, chocolate you crack! English Walnut, Italian Cappuccino, Spanish Latte, Canadian Maple Pecan, French Raspberry, Japanese Ginger Matcha. And we’re just getting started. This is next-gen toffee and bark. Amount we make may have changed. We still make small, hand-crafted batches of our toffees and barks with only the finest ingredients. And we’re having to have fun putting together tastes that reflect the world community. We love what we do! “Try it! You’ll hide it,” is our motto, and for a good reason.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My “real” profession is a video producer and writer. I was a producer for NBC’s TODAY SHow before starting my own company. Much of my video work has been focused on food-related projects. Food is a fascination and passion, maybe due to my Italian roots! Challenges I learned to deal with in the news business.
COVID definitely produced some obstacles but we dealt with it and actually increased sales. Toffee is a great comfort food! And last year, we had time to come up with lots of new flavor profiles.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We like to think of our products as next-gen candy. Flavor has an international vibe. We source responsibly.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
