Community Highlights: Meet DaRonda McDuffie of Quad Creations Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to DaRonda McDuffie.

Hi DaRonda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
As a pre-teen one of my neighborhood friends used to visit her grandmother. This time of year when street lights went off early, her grandmother would invite us in to snack, make hand-sewn pillows and chat.

Ten years later, as a youth director, I felt the pull on my heart to have chats with the girls during overnight prayer sessions and in-youth conferences and create special events for them.

As a young adult, I felt God tug on my heart to take what was experienced in ministry with the young girls, to the community, The Princess Within is the name He gave me, and I’ve held the conference for girls, which then turned into a mission for equipping them for leadership now for eight years, involving the community of subject matter experts, volunteers, speakers, instructors, workshop leaders and more.

All to equip and encourage girls (of all ages) to think beyond their backyard (borders) to see how they can impact the world around them — globally — using their innate gifts and talents as early on in life as possible. I consider it ‘discovering your diamond’ for which I created a workshop

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In my first two to three years, there was no team, very few volunteers and I did the bulk of the work. Recruiting others to see and understand the mission was not easy. In year three 2-3 people were so inspired they immediately volunteered for the following year

In the first year, a group of women from another state saw the event information online a week before, and joined us and explained they wanted to do something similar, which motivated me to see that others needed this [type of support] for their girls.

Planning the event, creating professional-looking attractive materials, getting community leaders to attend or at least put it on their agenda, getting media outlets to spread the word, funding, and financial support, all proved challenging.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In my first year of declaring my two-year graphic design business in 1998 as an event planning business in 2000, I was recognized as the 14th on the Top 14 Specialty Event businesses by the Baltimore Business Journal ‘Book of Lists.’ I create and manage logistics for Signature Events, and my Signature Event is the girl’s leadership conference.

I’m known for working behind the scenes (whether for graphics, marketing, messaging, media, social media) to help my clients move forward and shine in their lane of brilliance as it relates to their conference, seminar, workshop, red carpet, or other special events.

Along the way, I felt the need to keep my counseling skills sharp and acquired my Coaching Certification, aspiring to launch GoaledNation Coaching with the vision of encouraging the necessity for goal setting.

What matters most to you?
Encouraging those around me to tap into their innate gifts and talents to serve the world around them and advance one another as human beings who are here to be their exceptional selves, just by offering their gifts or the area(s) they’re gifted in, to advance society.
