Community Highlights: Meet Chris Agbalog of Winks Photo Booth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Agbalog.

Hi Chris, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was an avid photographer before I got into the photo booth business. I would shoot photos back home in Hawaii, in my travels throughout the US, and deployments to South Korea and Afghanistan. I love taking photos and how fun it can be. My wife and I got married in June 2013. We hired a photo booth company and loved how photo booths were now more modern, open-air, and fun to use at parties, especially my own wedding. It was then that I realized having a photo booth was something I could do. If I was not having my own wedding, I could have done it myself and have fun doing it.

Once I left active duty Army, I was able to settle and start a photo booth company. We moved to Northern Virginia in 2018 and we have been growing since. We have been able to be a part of a trade show, give back to our community, be a part of lots of great weddings and cool parties!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was not always easy. The biggest challenge was starting from scratch in a new city with no local connections. To address that, we just started putting ourselves out there through social media, networking events, and bridal expos. It proved to be a good strategy because now we have people that know us, our quality of work, and what we are about. Overall, we’re grateful for all of the relationships we made and continue to grow.

As you know, we’re big fans of Winks Photo Booth. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Winks Photo Booth is the premier photo booth company in the Washington DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia area. We provide high-quality photo booth experiences for clients and their guests to guarantee a fun and memorable event. We pride ourselves in our professionalism and high quality of work. We are most proud of being part of giving back to our local community, building relationships, and celebrating events with people in our city.

What does success mean to you?
Three part answer to this question as a business, entrepreneur, and a husband/father.

I define success as doing what we love and loving what we do. I have a passion for photography and capturing emotions in photos. Being able to do these two things with our photo booth and see genuine reactions shows us that we provide a service that clients and their guests truly enjoy.

As an entrepreneur, I also define success as always being able to grow. If I am not growing as a person and as a business, I feel I could be doing more to ensure that growth.

Most importantly, being able to spend a lot of time with my wife, three kids, and dog with all I am trying to do is the ultimate definition of success for me. A lot of credit goes to my wife, Kimmy, who has been supportive along the way with everything I want to do as an entrepreneur.
