Community Highlights: Meet Byron Scott of Cuisines by Chef B

Today we’d like to introduce you to Byron Scott.

Hi Byron, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am the owner and chef of Cuisines by Chef B. I am a Baltimore native who went to Mergenthaler Vo-tech studying the trade of culinary art. After graduating high school, I continued my education at Baltimore International College, studying professional cooking and baking. Once I completed my education, I began to work for Hyatt hotel chain in Baltimore, Utah, Key West, and then Atlanta, Georgia. I later accepted a position as executive sous chef for the University of Maryland. Here is where I decided to start my business. Cuisines by Chef B was started in my small apartment in northeast Baltimore in August 2019 because I wanted to show people you could create fine dining dishes without spending a lot of money. I first started with pop-up dishes and then I booked my first two weddings days apart. Talk about busy first month. After a few months, Covid hit the world. Unlike a lot of business, I began to grow for multiple reasons, people couldn’t go out to eat, I could bring dining experience to your home, and I offer cooking classes. I can honestly say I’m blessed and I plan to continue to grow attain my brick and mortar and food truck.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being an entrepreneur is never easy, I’m constantly learning and growing from my mistakes. I am currently juggling having a full-time job and running a business. I am doing every aspect of my business from purchasing, decorating if needed all the cooking and marketing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Cuisines by Chef B?
Cuisines by Chef B is like no other catering company. We love to show people that having the best done dining experience doesn’t mean you have to pay outlandish prices. We want to teach the field of culinary and show our clients that food can be easily manipulated to create great works of art.

What are your plans for the future?
In the future, we plan on getting our brick and mortar and food truck.
