Check Out Tess Bell’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tess Bell.

Hi Tess, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up in Los Angeles, I found myself immersed in a culture of creativity and beauty. Being in the music industry opened my eyes to artists around the world and encouraged me to dive into the world of makeup. I used cosmetology as a vessel to express my creative talents. I took courses in Los Angeles and soon made my way to London, studying under talented artists from around the globe. I traveled to parts of Asia, Europe, and South America, observing the beauty standards so that I could eventually cultivate my own brand that could speak for itself on a universal level. Little did I know, a life-changing opportunity was ready to present itself to me… I partnered up with two ambitious, talented creatives to build our company, now known as “Eleman Beauty”. We had a vision to inspire people to explore their creative side using makeup while creating products that are clean and of quality. I am a huge advocate for self-love and my goal is to make products that not only make people look good but feel good.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Although the process to get our company off the ground has been a bit of a rollercoaster, I believe the lessons learned were necessary. From manufacturing issues, packaging problems, and finding our place in the industry, I have learned to be patient, diligent, and more vocal about my visions. The best advice I can give is to believe in yourself. Trust your gut, no matter what. It’s easy to get swayed in this industry as a creative, but you need to have faith in yourself.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a creative director, my role is to come up with products that are both innovative and effective. I meet with our manufacturers and devise a plan for each of our products. I handle everything from the formula, color, design, scent, and packaging. I am regularly drawing inspiration from my surroundings and make an effort to predict upcoming trends. I develop products according to where I see the cosmetic industry heading.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I believe having integrity is vital to anyone’s success. If you’re honest and open about your visions, then others will be able to see it and put their belief in it as well. For me, personally, it is also important to be patient, consistent, ambitious, and to always think outside of the box. Being open to learning and making mistakes is something that comes with success. You must understand where you failed so that you can evolve and make yourself better.
