Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucja Ryzner.
Hi Lucja, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My love for hair started when I was 12 when The Hunger Games movie came out and I wanted to recreate the Katniss braid. I watched many YouTube videos on how to braid and add texture. What motivated me to keep braiding was the many compliments I received for braiding skills! Throughout middle school, I did many braided hairstyles on myself and in high school, I started learning about creating updos for homecoming and prom!
I actually didn’t know I wanted to do hair until the end of my senior year, the realization just hit me! I went to Paul Mitchell Partner School and started booking weddings at that time. I participated in hair shows and Discovery Channel. After school, I continued working at weddings and creating long-lasting relationships through Instagram! I love where I am and I always love to bring it back to God. Because without His goodness, nothing would be possible!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There was a point when I had to make a decision, to stay or to take a leap of faith. Working at a salon after cosmetology school requires you to work weekends, which means less weddings. I was overworking myself with something I didn’t love as much. And if I stayed at the salon, I would have had to say goodbye to weddings! So I made the decision to quit!
A wise friend told me that if I’m not taking the baby steps to reach my goal now, then I’ll never get there. So I quit and took all my time. I had to do photoshoots and catch up on all that I wanted to do! Best decision ever!!!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in bridal hairstyles for your wedding day! I am a professional bridal hairstylist that travels on location all over the east coast. I love making little videos of self-styling or funny clips. When Instagram released “reels,” I was able to take my business to the next level! Some of my posts had went viral on my page, which was so cool!
What I think that sets me apart is that I have a good basic understanding of styling. I grew up learning braids and quick styles, so when I am in a pinch, I have years of experience to create something wonderful, regardless that I’m still pretty young!
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I was born in Poland! I am fully polish and bilingual! My name is Łucja, and the way to pronounce it is “woo-tsyah”!
