Today we’d like to introduce you to LaShea.
Hi LaShea, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
LaShea Iyonna is a dynamic force in the DMV, seamlessly blending her talents as an actress, songwriter, and line dance fitness instructor. Best known for her high-energy #LineDanceFitness classes, she brings contagious rhythm, humor, and heart to every session.
Rooted in Southeast D.C. and now embracing a lively country lifestyle, LaShea draws inspiration from her earliest dance memories—stepping side by side with her mother, who was also a line dance instructor. Her passion for movement led her to become a semi-professional dancer for over six years, including time as a dance team director. She’s performed around the world, appeared in multiple music videos, and even lit up the stage on BET’s 106 & Park.
Through every step, LaShea continues to inspire and connect communities—one dance at a time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Dance has always come natural to me. It’s not just talent it’s my passion and I enjoy bringing smiles and energy to peoples lives through dance and fitness
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a line dance instructor, I don’t just teach choreography—I create an experience. I bring a mix of energy, culture, and connection to every session, blending my Southeast D.C. roots with my passion for country living and movement. My #Line Dance classes are where fitness meets community meets fun, and the vibe is always high. What sets me apart is the way I fuse music, humor, and community—I want people to leave not just knowing a dance, but feeling empowered, seen, and uplifted.”
How do you define success?
“Success, for me, isn’t just about stages or spotlight—it’s about impact. As a dancer coming back into her own and rebuilding income, I define success as doing what I love and watching it light people up. It’s creating spaces where folks feel joy, freedom, and connection through movement. When someone tells me, ‘Your class was the highlight of my week,’ or ‘I finally learned the Tamia dance thanks to you’ —that’s the win.
It’s also about staying true to my passion and love of the arts while building a sustainable life from it. I’m not just dancing to entertain anymore—I’m dancing with my community!
