Today we’d like to introduce you to Jameka Turner.
Hi Jameka, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Being creative has always been a passion. Whether drawing or painting or simply doing crafts, being creative was always something I was good at. My passion for makeup came in high school but I never took it too seriously until prom season.
When my prom makeup was nothing that I wanted I vowed to never have my makeup done professionally again. It took years for me to really get back in makeup after that. Around 2015, I began to take a major interest in the beauty industry as a whole.
Makeup then became a hobby. Once others knew I was good at it I started by practicing with friends and family. Although I was only practicing for fun, I fell in love with the feeling of making someone’s day. So in 2016, I started Sunkissed Beauty.
Over the years, my brand has changed in so many ways but we will always stand behind “enhancing the beauty that is YOU.”
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My makeup artistry road has not been rainbows and butterflies lol. Honestly being in a forever-changing industry I couldn’t expect anything different. Being in the service industry of course you experience the common struggles of maybe not having a booked schedule or finances. But for me, a big struggle was/is not always feeling inspired to create.
As a creative, no matter what field you’re in, it’s easy to lose your creative juices from time to time. With experience, I’ve found that I produce some of my best work when I just take a break and come back with a fresh mind.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a makeup artist. I specialize in makeup applications for everyday women and I believe that is what sets me apart from others. I specialize in enhancing your natural beauty and giving an experience that you can not forget. I also specialize in special effects makeup.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Peace of mind is something that matters the most to me. Having peace of mind allows me to remain calm when faced with difficulties that life throws my way. It is great for your overall health, both mentally and physically. Protecting my peace of mind by any means has allowed me to have more patience, tolerance, and tact.
