Check Out Eric Lee’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Lee.

Hi Eric, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am a full-time wedding photographer based in the DMV area. I have documented more than 300 weddings since 2013. It was my honor/pleasure that I could capture the best moment in someone’s life. My goal is always very clear because I want my photos to represent what it really is. So, in wedding photography, I do not alter or manipulate things because it is not real. I truly focus on who they are, which later my past clients always said that they would cherish those vibrant and candid moments forever. Another goal as a wedding photographer is to create a story. On a wedding day, there are numerous feelings or things mixed up and happen. As a wedding photographer, my job is to clearly sort things out and line them up to make a beautiful story of the day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well, I had a full-time job working Monday through Friday as an accountant for last ten years. At the same time, I was taking some weddings photos over the weekend. I literally did not have much time to enjoy my life with my friends or family. But, luckily my wedding photography business has been great and I was so fortunate to be able to afford my living.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a wedding photographer and humanitarian photographer. During off wedding season, I travel around the world to document more realistic events. I love to take photos of people on the street and help working kids send them to school. A lot of children I met were working for their family and couldn’t go to school. As a father of a son, that broke my heart. So, whenever I had time, I and my wife travel to developing countries to help children to get more education by donating some money that was part of my wedding business. I am different from others because I capture the moments, meaning that I do not photograph “same” things. The air I was breathing in and out, the smell or the taste are all different at the time. Most importantly, the couple or subjects I was photographing are different. They are unique. I created aesthetic photos to deliver more candid and truthful stories. I am also proud of myself because I have met many clients who appreciated my approach and perspective. It means a lot to me when they tell me exactly how I feel about photography.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Honesty and communication. Realistic approach always works better for me. If I can’t do a certain thing, then I tell them I can’t. In order to create more beautiful photos, communication always plays a big role. It is a key.
