Check Out Diamond Patrick’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diamond Patrick.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
(2014) I taught myself how to knit on the train ride to DC. I brought a Knitting kit for an infinity scarf from my job at the time (CVS). While I had a hard time learning from the written instructions I turned to YouTube University & it changed my life. I always wanted to learn how to make clothes and every time I looked up how to knit a clothing item on YouTube crochet was suggested. (2017) I took the chance to learn how to crochet via YouTube university when I wanted to create some fluffy lounge shorts (the very first item I crocheted) – (2021) I created my sunflower bucket hat in 2020 & now I’m here growing a business thanks to those who support and believe in my craft. I have a website Zhanecloset.com & also an Etsy Shop. I also enjoy vending and meeting other artists and supporters. I’m looking forward to teaching others how to crochet and continue creating new items.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The main struggle for Zhane Closet is that I am one person and every item is handmade & very time-consuming. So staying on top of demand and having time to create new items has been a current struggle for me.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a crochet artist and I specialize in making crochet clothing. I genuinely feel like I am most known for my sunflower bucket hat that I created in 2020. Many love the original design and other color designs I created around the pattern. What sets me apart from others is I create my own patterns but I also let my supporters customize the colorway to their desire.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Customer service is KEY! Being charismatic, determined & having patience definitely contributed to my success in more ways than one. While I also choose good quality yarn for my items. I love yarn that is soft to the touch and functional.
