Check Out Deme B’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deme B.

Hi Deme, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My love for travel started at a very young age from road trips to South Carolina to visit family or weekend trips to Philadelphia to go to the Zoo and eat loads of water ice.

As I got older and more financially stable, I started traveling more and more to places I would only dream about; Cuba, Costa Rica, and Jamaica. I would share my trips on my social media and I would always get tons of questions about where I stayed, how I afforded the trips and if I could invite them next time.

As Youtube and IG and now TikTok became more and more popular I contemplated if I should vlog my tips and trips so that I would have a landing place for all the many questions I would get and that became the Birth of Deme B #TIPSYUPONARRIVAL.

By using the hashtag #tipsyuponarrival I share my travels and connect with different cultures through food and cocktails. Inspiring people to see that travel is attainable no matter the budget & investment in your mental and physical wellbeing.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road and I’m still finding my way and my tribe.

Sometimes I’m exhausted from my 9-5 or just feel creatively drained and let’s not even mention planning and budgeting for trips it all can be overwhelming at times, but hearing friends and family stories of visiting places based on my recommendation or even taking the leap and getting a passport pushes and assures me that I’m creating a space for myself to continue to grow and that there’s a need for ME and the knowledge that I share. It’s not always glamorous but it’s needed.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Baltimore is a city within a city, I love our culture, and our language, we are just uniquely us with so many hidden gems and such much talent.

What I like the least is the gun violence, I wish I could just show the young people that it’s so much more to life than what they may see right in front of them and that it may be hard, it will take sacrifice, but life can be so much more than ending up as a statistic.
