Check Out Carter Roach’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carter Roach.

Hi Carter, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Where do I begin? My very first canvas was painted around 2003 with my friend who has recently passed on, Alex Bullen. They were painted with deco color markers and the subject matter was graffiti. I had gotten into just the tagging aspect of graffiti around 2001. Once I had done that first canvas, I had fallen in love with art. About 10 years ago I had a stroke which paralyzed the right side of my body and because it took me so long to get everything back, I went from right-handed to left-handed. So now all that I paint is dominantly done with my left hand. With that, I went from painting characters sometimes in a scene to now painting abstract little worlds . I also paint realistic looking nature in specific , Loch Raven because that is where I most frequent. I am getting into doing murals and I have helped my friend nether paint a couple of his murals and we have also collaborated along with Hiro Hubbard to paint our own murals .Check out my Instagram page @breignstorm !!!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work is usually on a canvas ,12×36 inch is my favorite, and done with markers , spray paint, airbrush and acrylic paints . It is inspired by my everyday activities which includes nature walks , exploring in the city and even house painting . My son and wife are a huge part of what I do as well , I want to show Ara, my son, that anything is possible even when you lose mobility of your dominant hand and to never give up!

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Don’t be afraid! Let mistakes happen, sometimes they turn out beautiful!
