Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolyn Davis.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Carolyn Davis, the proud owner of CandiStyles921 Hair Studio, located in Baltimore, Maryland. I started my journey at a very young age, around 14 years old. I used to do my family and friends’ hair in the basement of my mother’s house, knowing one day this is what my career will be. As I matured, I decided to attend cosmetology school after graduating from High school. In 2006, I graduated from the Baltimore Studio of Hair design located in Downtown Baltimore. My very first job was as a shampoo technician at a popular salon located in the 1800 block of West North Ave.

After learning the techniques of shampooing, cutting, coloring, and styling, I felt confident enough to begin my career. I was an assistant for five years before I stepped behind the chair as my own Boss. I have attended several hair shows, including the Premiere International Beauty Event in Orlando, Florida, and IBS in New York. I also attended several coloring, Cutting and Hair extension classes. I also took business classes which allowed me to become a better and more confident stylist and business owner.

I have matured and learned to push myself to the fullest potential. I have been a stylist for several professional photoshoots and a wedding consultant stylist for brides and their entire bridal parties. Not only do I style hair for different occasions, but I am also a certified makeup artist. I currently have a Cosmetic lipstick line named Candistyles921 lipstick Cosmetics. It was launched in 2018.

I can not imagine doing anything else. My desires are to make sure I’m well-rounded in all techniques of hair texture and styles. I also specialize in various techniques with hair weaving. I custom make machine wefted wigs and l provide I-tip microlink services. I enjoy servicing my clients and their hair care is always first. I have long-lasting relationships with my clients and their families. Every client that leaves out of my salon will have healthy, stylish and beautiful hair. When my clients speak of me, they will always say I’m lots of fun, loving, and hardworking. I love giving my customers experiences that they will never forget.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

And April 13, 2018, I lost my son. It was a very difficult time in my life. I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to still pursue my career in Cosmetology. But thanks to God and my husband, Family and Friends, I was able to push through.
