Check Out Alaina Stevens Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alaina Stevens.

Hi Alaina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started doing photography 17 years ago, near New Orleans, Louisiana when I was a senior in high school. I always loved capturing the best parts of people’s lives and helping them tell their stories. When I moved to Baltimore on January 25, 2012, I was focused on my photography but I needed to find a source of income while I grew my business and I decided to go to Cosmetology School.

I instantly fell in love with the art of hair and after getting my license, I started working for a corporate salon, taking all their free educational course to sharpen my skills behind the chair. But right before the pandemic started, I really started to miss my camera and wanted to focus on my 1st love, photography. Then a week later, the world shut down.

I began saving every dollar I earned and on August 1, 2021, I opened the doors to my first studio, where I provide hair and photography services. I also provide make-up for some of my photography packages. I am so excited I started my Entrepreneurial journey and build my company in the great city of Baltimore. As a hairstylist, I focus on healthy hair, I provide an array of services from natural to chemicals. But I will always focus on your hair being healthy.

As a photographer, I love Maternity, Boudoir, and branding photography. My goal is to use my skills and help other businesses with their visual marketing.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
To be honest, one of my biggest obstacles is my own fear of failure. But recognizing it and pushing past it these last few months, have been really eye-opening. My other obstacle is the visibility of my services to clients but I know it is a journey and I am taking it one day at a time.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a hairstylist, I am so proud that I focus on hair growth and healthy hair. I always have honest conversations with my clients and will easily deny service if their hair is not healthy enough. I make sure my clients are educated and know the right product to use to keep their hair growing.

As a photographer, I love bringing people’s visions to life. My ultimate goal for my photography company is to work with individuals and brands to manifest their vision. To help them grow as individuals and companies.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My best quality is my ability to listen to my client’s needs and execute their vision. I believe in customer satisfaction and them living in my studio with smiling faces and healthy hair.
