Today we’d like to introduce you to Milla Kas.
Hi Milla, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I’m Milla Kas, a 25-year-old artist originally from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. I moved to the United States with my family in 2015 when I was just 17 years old. I’ve always had a passion for art and dreamed of becoming a fashion designer or artist one day. At the age of 18, I took a leap of faith and began my tattoo apprenticeship without any prior experience or knowledge of tattooing. Over the years, I’ve honed my craft and developed a unique style that blends elements of realism, fine art, and graphic design. I pay great attention to details and enjoy intricate work.
In pursuit of my artistic ambitions, I obtained an associate degree in fine arts from Bucks County Community College. This education has given me a solid foundation and deep understanding of various art forms and techniques that I incorporate into my tattoo designs.
As a tattoo artist for seven years now, I’ve found my true calling and love every day of it. I’m constantly pushing myself to improve my skills and create innovative designs that push the boundaries of tattoo art.
I’m a true artist in every sense of the word. I will continue to inspire and captivate with my intricate designs, attention to detail, and love for the art of tattooing.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. I faced a number of obstacles and struggles along the way. One of the biggest challenges I faced was the language barrier. When I moved to the United States, I didn’t speak any English, which made it difficult to learn tattooing, attend college, and provide good customer service. Additionally, juggling mental health, trying to stay creative, and staying inspired to create new art has been a constant process for me. These challenges have made my journey as an artist both difficult and rewarding, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As an artist, I specialize in tattooing and creating artwork. I have a particular affinity for delicate, detailed, and sometimes ornamental floral designs, which are often feminine in nature. My preferred medium is black and grey, but I also enjoy incorporating colors into my designs for a vibrant and dynamic effect. When it comes to my artwork, I’m drawn to dot work, detailed designs, and mixed media. I strive to create pieces that have a sense of symmetry and structure, giving them a cohesive and harmonious feel. One of my favorite subjects to draw are beautiful ladies, which I find to be a timeless and inspiring muse.
Whether I’m tattooing or creating artwork, I’m always pushing myself to improve my skills and create unique and innovative designs that capture the beauty and essence of my subjects. I take pride in my attention to detail and dedication to delivering the best possible results for my clients, creating artwork that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also emotionally resonant.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
In terms of books, I’m a big fan of self-help literature. I find that reading these books helps me grow as a person and learn about effective habits and ways to structure my life. Some of my favorite self-help books include “Atomic Habits” by James Clear, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey, and “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle. When it comes to podcasts, I enjoy listening to documentaries on a variety of topics, although I don’t have any specific favorites that I listen to regularly. I find that listening to podcasts is a great way to learn new things and gain insights into different subjects, and I’m always on the lookout for new and interesting podcasts to explore.
As for apps, I don’t use too many on a regular basis, but I tent to use different meditation and breathing apps.
