Exploring Life & Business with Christina Layton of LaytonLife Creations

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Layton.

Hi Christina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I was gifted a Cricut for my birthday. As soon as I cut and rolled my first flower, I was hooked! It brought me so much joy and happiness.

It didn’t take long for me to come up with a business name, a logo, and a business plan.

I had always toyed around with the idea of owning my own business, so this was a really easy decision for me.

My goal is to spread that same joy and happiness to every single person that purchases or is gifted one of my creations!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been the smoothest road. There are definitely weeks where I don’t have any sales, followed by weeks where I stay very busy. The inconsistency has probably been the hardest part for me because sometimes I find it difficult to push through. I have to sacrifice a lot of time with my husband and two small children to make this work and at times I question myself. But deep down I know that it will be so worth it in the end!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about LaytonLife Creations?
I create art, gifts, and decor with paper flowers. I provide the opportunity to have flowers that will live forever!

My flowers come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Everything I make is made-to-order and fully customizable. I think that’s what sets me apart from others. I don’t shy away from any custom request. Those are actually my favorite!

My best seller is my 10” x 10” flower bouquet They make great gifts for teachers, for Mother’s Day, for birthdays, for flower lovers and so many more.

I’m most proud of my 6’ paper flower backdrops that I have created. I rent these backdrops out for special occasions!

Everything I do is made with love and I’m a perfectionist. I communicate throughout the whole process and make sure that my customers love everything that I am creating for them.

Most recently I created DIY Kits so that people can work on making their own paper flowers at home.

I have a website and I’m very active on Facebook and Instagram. At the beginning of this year, I created an Etsy shop that I’m really excited about. And one of my biggest goals for this year is to begin a YouTube channel where I can give people tips, tricks, and hacks on all things paper flowers.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was a tomboy growing up. I played basketball and soccer. I also played the violin and later in high school, I played the trumpet. I was always a very active kid, but I never gave my parents too much trouble. As far as what my interests were, I had a sister that was five years older than me and she was my complete idol, so naturally, I did everything and loved everything that she did!
