Today we’d like to introduce you to Miana Massey.
Hi Miana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The daughter of a Baltimore County elementary school teacher and year around “sports coach dad.” Miana also has a younger brother.
Miana attended Garrison Forest School, then graduated from Howard University with a Bachelor’s degree in communications.
While in college Miana gained experience in entertainment, political, and traditional news while interning for E! News, Fox News Network, and CNN.
Prior to joining WJZ, Miana worked in Cincinnati, Ohio as a general assignment reporter. She started her career as a multimedia journalist in Fort Myers, Florida.
Her passion for broadcast news developed after witnessing the media’s immense power to shape, develop, and drive stories during the aftermath of Freddie Gray’s death in April 2015. At just seventeen years old, Miana felt a responsibility to make sure all communities were fairly represented.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Miana Massey joined the WJZ news team in December 2022. She reports weekdays and anchors Saturday and Sunday mornings.
As a Baltimore native, Miana is excited to be back home and to serve as an ambassador for the local community. She produces unique stories that shatter perceptions and push boundaries. Miana believes it is her duty to not only produce stories of truth and accuracy but of relevancy. She is most proud of her coverage during the 2020 racial protests, the vaccine rollout during COVID-19 pandemic, the tornadoes in Goshen, Ohio.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
I love Krispy Kreme donuts, so I vividly remember when the red-light sign would come on at the Reisterstown Road location. My family and I would go always go in and get a free donut; we’d love to watch them being made through the window.
Snow days were my favorite! My mother is a teacher, so when school was out everyone in the neighborhood would come to our house. We watched movies, baked cookies, played games, and went sledding. So much fun!
