Rising Stars: Meet Digital Factory

Today we’d like to introduce to you Prosper, Steve, and Leonard, owners of The Digital Factory.

We opened The Digital Factory in December 2020 during the covid pandemic. Prior, we ran a concert production company working with various artists and venues in Delaware and Baltimore. In May 2019, we produced Playboi Carti’s second highest grossing show as the headliner on the East Coast. We have maintained a good rapport with various notable photographers, videographers, and models in Baltimore and the surrounding DMV area. As the popularity for visual and digital content creation increased, we decided to create a space that would foster Baltimore’s buzzing creative scene. The Digital Factory name was inspired by Baltimore’s industrial history and our desire to empower people of all backgrounds to create freely.

Digital Factory is a photography and videography studio that caters to creatives and businesses/brands around the Baltimore and DMV area. We are a creative playground that encourages collaboration and true creative expression. Since we’ve opened, over 3000 people have used the Digital Factory to bring your creative ideas to life, which led us to being voted as the #1 photography studio in Baltimore (2022) by the Quality Business Awards. To further grow the brand beyond our studio space, we launched our clothing line, DGTL, in August 2022.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Business is rarely smooth – there are obstacles and challenges we had to navigate being that there is no blueprint for what we aim to accomplish. Starting a business during the pandemic was difficult. We had to prioritize health and safety protocols while trying to execute our vision. However, we believe our biggest challenge is maintaining relevance and providing value in the rapid growing content creation industry. In comparison to cities like New York and Los Angeles, we felt Baltimore’s creative scene needed a space that accommodated creatives of all levels and backgrounds.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are most proud of our ability to provide a functional and comfortable space, in which creatives all over Baltimore and the DMV can collab and network. We are known for our in-house content production, photoshoot networking mixers, brand shoots, seminars, and intimate events. We believe the environment we foster is what sets us apart from others – we make an effort to maintain a modern, comfortable space that can accommodate all ideas. Our current focus is to partner with various creatives, entrepreneurs and organizations in the digital content creation space.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Surprisingly, we are not photographers or content creators by profession, but since we’ve opened, we have assembled a team of photographers, videographers, graphic designers, clothing designers, and creative directors who have done an amazing job in assisting us in our vision. Another fun fact is that we are serial entrepreneurs with business ventures in the finance, fashion, beauty, CBD/cannabis, and real estate industries.
