Life & Work with Kenya Green of Columbia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenya Green.

Hi Kenya, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
While growing up, meals were the cornerstone of my family. Inspired by the legacy of my late father and my Korean and Black ethnicity, EatsbyKG brings you signature spices, sauce, and cuisine to enjoy in the company of your friends and family. My dad’s trademark of love was everyone gathered around the table every day (especially on Holidays & Sundays), breaking bread together. Rediscovering my passion for cooking has helped facilitate healing through my mental health challenges. Food has always been the centerpiece of nourishment for the body, soul, and mender of love relationships – I mean, who can’t appreciate a great meal? Choosing to walk away from a 25-year career to devote my life to one of my passions was the easiest decision to make, having my family’s legacy in the forefront as the constant motivator for success. I am well on my way to being the next Enterprise Mogul with aspirations of being a Fashion Designer and venturing into the expansion of Maryland’s Adult Night Life.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Navigating through self-motivation and doubt were the most significant hurdles, then came decisions from what to spend money on, marketing colors, logos, niche, etc. There will always be a transition period that breeds room for learning, but the reward of building something your family will benefit from is worth it all.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Like everyone else, I was forced to re-evaluate my quality of life when the pandemic hit. I transitioned from a 25-year career in Corporate America to operating solely in one of my passions. It’s so cliche, but I’ve once heard, “When you do what you love every day, it never feels like work.” Knowing the climate of fellowship brings FOOD, and there is rarely an occasion where people communion where a meal isn’t the focal point. I decided to use the inspiration of my late father’s legacy and my Korean and Black ethnicity to birth “EatsbyKG!” We specialize in providing our services for family functions, special events, and other mission-driven initiatives; our purpose is to strengthen the people around the table and serve our food as fuel to the memories and relationships formed. Whether it’s turkey wings, fish tacos, soul food, or pound cakes, EatsbyKG believes it’s not what you make. It’s how it’s made. I am most proud of the courage I displayed walking into the unknown, totally reliant on unshakeable faith. What sets me apart is the gift of service to people and my ability to heighten the vibrancy of the food and engage an idea to provide a total culinary experience.
