Today we’d like to introduce you to J’sun Tyler. Them and their team share their story with us below:
J’sun Tyler is a gifted multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, independent artist, vocal coach, and producer who is musically influenced by Gospel, Jazz, Meditation Music, Rhythm & Blues, and Neo-Soul.
His humble beginning started when he began accompanying his grandmother to clean the church they attended. J’sun was instinctively drawn to the piano. With no formal music training, he taught himself how to play. His grandmother saw such passion and dedication to learning in him that she allowed him to play while she cleaned.
Her love and support were instrumental in fueling his desire to excel in his craft. Over time, J’sun’s instrumental repertoire grew to include the drums, organ, bass, electric guitar, trumpet, baritone, and tuba. He showcased his talent in multiple venues as a drummer, keyboardist, organist, bass player, and vocal coach in the DMV and several other states.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Transitioning from “church” music to secular music was a challenge.
There are myriads of bands trying to crack the music market. As a startup band, it was a huge challenge to attract and retain skilled musicians long enough to make a name for ourselves. Since no one knew who we were, we had to work that much harder in networking and marketing to attract even non-paying gigs.
Working pro-bono just to get our “foot in the door” was another factor that contributed to musicians leaving our band for other well-known, and well-paying bands.

This small and minority-owned business works with clients from concept, and scripting, to design, implementation, and delivery to provide LIVE music, full-service sound system rental for indoor and outdoor events, music production, and studio rental space for live streaming, video, and audio production recording. We also provide digital audio post-production and voice-over services. All our services include strategic consultation to discuss the full scope of the project.
DÉJA GRÜV BAND: With over a century of combined experience, the Déja Grüv Band (https://www.dejagruvband.com/home) is a versatile 14-piece band that performs a variety of music genres, such as Motown, Jazz, Soul, Pop, R&B, Country, Top 40, and more!
Our top grossing events are Corporate and Weddings. We provide live music for the wedding ceremony, cocktail, dinner, reception, and even the after-party! We also perform for Anniversaries, Birthdays, and Themed events, just to name a few.
We are proud to say our musicians and vocalists are some of the best in the industry. With the 14-piece band, we can play just about anything! The 4-piece horns section is ALWAYS a crowd favorite.
We have recently added upstage lighting, and fog/haze machines to our shows to really elevate our clients’ experience and give our shows a “concert/music production” feel. Additional services include an event emcee and a live DJ.

What were you like growing up?
J’sun’s mottoes are “to thine own self be true” and “there are no coincidences – everything happens for a reason.”
He believes strongly in his ability to create abundance in every aspect of his life just by speaking them into existence. He is a natural-born leader with an uncanny ability to connect well with people.
This natural skill led him to pursue his calling as a Certified Life Coach. He is a lifelong music enthusiast with over 30-years’ experience in the music industry.
